I’d say cost on the new wheel is going to be maybe 2x truing so just throw a new wheel at it and be done

Truing service is usually about 100.00 in my area.
Depending on the fees in your area. You gotta decide if it’s worth it to you.

  3. Buy yourself a $7 spoke key and true it. Plenty of videos online showing you how (basically put a bit of tape on the frame so you have something to measure your wheel against.)

Tighten spoke by turning the wrench counter-clockwise (opposite of usual, because it’s basically a nut from the other side).

Works a lot better if you take the tire off. Will take you a while for your first wheel. But the process is not hard.

    You got this.

  4. True it out. Worse wheels than that have been brought into alignment and lasted for years.

Try it yourself. Give it a few hours – if not your cup of tea, search for a new wheel.

That radial run-out is inward. You would loosen the spokes in that area, but I bet they’re already slack. It could be improved a bit, but nowhere near perfect.

You could build around the existing hub with new spokes and rim, and skils and some special tools. A whole new “basic replacement wheel” is a good solution, I think.

You can true these rims back from way worse than this. Look up Sheldon Brown (.com) on your Internet search method of choice. He was an absolute bike legend and archived just about all the information you could ever want to know about bikes and their maintenance on his website
