My local council cyclone clean up, an Australian tradition where every dumps their junk on the side of the road and the council comes and takes it to the tip, was very fruitful this year.

Council leaves it out for a week or so to give all us bin chickens time to go around fossicking for lightly used gold.

I got three vintage Australian steel frame fixies and enough hubsets and wheelsets to equip a hipster wheel chair basketball team.

So, I'm curious about how you mob all stored your spares? Anyone particularly proud of their solution and want to share?

If you couldn't tell from my penchant for liberating rubbish, I like to make things rather than buy them. That said, I'll still consider ready made products if the price is reasonable.

And check out this Repco one 🙂

  1. I have a stack of frequently used wheels on top of the kegerator in the basement, and the rest hanging off hooks in the rafters of the basement ceiling.

For long term, less accessible storage, consider stringing a bunch of them on a length of cheap EMT conduit, again hung from the ceiling. I do this for infrequently-use life jackets and other water gear.
