    Is ABERDEEN the MOST DISMAL CITY in SCOTLAND ? Is it REALLY that BAD ?

      I grew up in Glasgow too and Aberdeen is so much quieter and the people aren't as bad as Glasgow is. I have been up in Aberdeen for about 12 years now and it's not abysmal it's actually not as bad as ur saying.

      I’ve lived in Aberdeen since 1994 and Aberdeen is or at least can be exactly what you make of it. We have a LOT of history in this city! The university is among one of the oldest being founded in 1495. It has a rich historical harbour too which dates back to the 800’s AD …Fittie! Worth a visit folks

      The dismal side of the City must be coming oot’ fey these elected clowns 🤡 that hiv’ goat – less legitimacy than a doubled fried Mars Bar in a vegan salad bar, 🥗 from Eberdeen’s auld “Instore Market” in Market St !! AKA FLINT (soon to be eventually) 💤🥱 aye, eventually !!… The tall ⛵️ships will have been converted into rubber dinghies by that time though !!

      We dress up poor ideas in fine words,
      wrap broken systems in shiny packaging,
      hand each other steaming nonsense, hoping no one smells it !!

      Remember fit’ oor’ auld 👵 Granny 😤
      with her sharp quip said – “Carved in the reed’ sandstone” o’ Glasgow’s back closes – and – whispered doon pub tables frae Eberdeen tae Ayr,

      Loon “Ye canny polish a 💩”… however- ye kin’ sprinkle 🪄 a wee bit o’ glitter on it,
      un’ let it sparkle – and, folk might stand back and admire it fur a whiley’ before the wind bl’aws the TRUTH back into yer nostrils !! 💨💩✨ 😷.

      Aberdeen is now a tip thanks to the City's underperforming Town councillors who have let the city fall into disrepair without attracting new Investors. Union street used to be the main shopping area for the North east, but now is full of takeaways, Restaurants, Phone shops, and bookies. Yes other Towns have had the same problems, but not in the scale Aberdeen has endured. In reality you need to speak the the people of the city and it will shock you with the amount of people who now have to travel to the central belt to do their clothes shopping.

      I'm a bloo toon quine but have many fond memories of gan the bus to Aberdeen fan I was a bairn. Loved getting my birthday or Christmas money and getting the bus with my ma into Aberdeen to spend my pennies 💙

      This was so interesting as Aberdeen is my closest city. You've nailed it that the council is absolutely stellar at making the worst decisions possible for the city. Like ripping up Union St, the main high street in the year the Tall Ships came. Union Terrace Gardens a brown weed bed no one wants to sit in, the ULEZ and bus gates that deter shoppers from coming into the city, the destruction of the Market that was so popular with years of ugly construction waiting for an ugly replacement. Many shops have shut because of lack of footfall on Union St. turning it into a graveyard of To Let signs & boarded up shop fronts. The building of Union Square was the first step in gutting the city. But, if you love interesting architecture, myriad nooks & crannies, alleys & oddities, Aberdeen is a treasure trove.

      There's been decades of bad decisions by terrible councillors in Aberdeen, but in a democracy you get what you deserve (supposedly). The turnout at council elections is a joke.

      I was robbed and had someone threaten to kick our door down and stab us all in our sleep (oops wrong house) but I was never actually assaulted in all my years in Aberdeen.

      Its not the only factor but the construction of Union Square deserves a lot of blame for the death of Union Street.

      As a Brocher who has lived in Edinburgh for a long time…Aberdeen has gone down hill in recent years but Edinburgh can be very gloomy dark and dismal in the winter months. Anywhere in Scotland looks dismal on any grey day.
