After seeing videos of bike shops using industrial ultrasonic cleaners for bike components, I decided to try the one I use at home for my glasses. It certainly didn't disappoint.
I used hot water with a small amount of dish soap and a few drops of vinegar. After two sessions, changing the water each time, the chain was noticeably cleaner. With a few wipes from a microfiber cloth, it was starting to shine.
I think I've found my go-to chain cleaning method; now I just need to find the perfect degreaser solution to make it even better.
Never thought it would work so well.

It’s best to use the ultrasonic cleaners as they get into all the little crevices & clean things alot better. I know as use to use them for cleaning my tattoo stuff before I sterilised them.
It looks really dirty when you put the chain in. I have had good results thoroughly cleaning the chain with degreaser then using the ultrasound as a final step.
What one did you pick? I’ve had one of these on my wish list for a while… maybe it’s time I finally pull the trigger.
I thought the same thing after I bought one for $60 on Amazon but it’s great.
And now you need another one to use for your glasses and other things.
It would have been better to put your chain in a zip lock bag (which liquid in the bag) then put into the cleaner with more liquid. Then all the mess would be contained to the zip lock bag and you can still use the ultrasonic cleaner for other things you normally use it with.

A tip for this, to avoid your ultrasonic cleaner getting filthy, and to clean in better fluids like solvents, get a clear plastic bag, fill it with your solvent plus chain or whatever and dunk it into the cleaner water. That way it stays spotless and you can use harsher chemicals. The sonic waves travel through the bag using the water as a medium
Wax chain. Soak in solvent to remove wax. Re wax.
At first i thought you just played some hardcore with massive bass distortion.
