  1. Yes that’s a more than reasonable price given the condition and parts. That is, assuming all the parts are name brand and not AliExpress randoms

  2. If the tires aren’t bald or rotten I’d say $200 easy. I wouldn’t argue. That Brooks is a $100 saddle. I like it a lot.

If it were actually a Brooks saddle, and the tires were new, and some of the drivetrain were replaced, I’d say $200 is fair.
It doesn’t appear that those criteria are met, so I personally wouldn’t buy it for $200.

Low end Trek back in the day. Not a Brooks. As an original equipment vintage MTB this would be a $40 bike in my market (every market is different for these). $200 is probably what the seller has into it with the replacement parts (I’m guessing the new parts are all Amazon / Ali low end stuff). If it works well, fits, and you want what they are selling it may be worth it. If you’re buying it to “build” into what you want … no.

Meh. You’d do worse if you walked into a Walmart, but I’m sure there’s better stuff listed used for less.

Offer less but seems fair depending n where u are. Rural area maybe a bit less. Urban a good deal. Fake brooks saddle tho.

That would be a fun little short-commuter or noodle-your-neighborhood bike. Let us help you spend your money!

Is it the right size? Fit would be a large aspect for me to buy it. Might want to offer less if the fit is good and you like the look and feel

  9. Decades of bike repair and bike flipping, I’m a used bike re-seller.

I would’ve sold that bike this spring in near perfect working condition even if the parts were old but still not worn out with a standard cheap anonymous black seat for about $130-140 in the upper Midwest, cash and carry pick up, . Only if those tires are not rotted. my bikes at that price need no mechanical work, as I did it already.

That’s a very low end Trek. The one piece riveted, triple front sprocket, and the steel rear derailure (cheaper than what this came with ) with the long arm are all entry-level. Probably has a free wheel versus a cassette.

Now, if you throw that seat in which we don’t know for sure what it is, nor its condition the price could be more than what I quoted above.

Interesting how values of bikes really vary with different audiences.

(Here at Reddit people seem to think bikes are worth a little bit more than that some of the more old-school independent bicycle forums (they would say this bike is worth 80 bucks lol).

I mean if it fits, you like the colours and are after something in this condition – yes. As others have said stock drivetrain, newer tires, grips and cheap saddle. If it works it’s worth it. If the drivetrain is completely cooked still worth an offer. It’s a cool frame in decent shape.

I’ve paid/traded more than $200 for stuff that needs more work but finding quality bikes in good shape when you’re 6’3” is tricky and I don’t like haggling over $50 when I have bins of parts to upgrade stuff from. 🤷‍♂️

  11. $100 top , sold a similar bike for $50 in very good working order. A flipper bought it and tried to get $100 . He was unsuccessful
