Join me on a long-distance bike ride from Carr Mill Dam all the way to the seaside town of Southport. This route takes in a mix of quiet country roads, scenic dirt trails, peaceful canal towpaths, and open countryside.
But there’s a twist — I set myself a three-hour time limit to reach Southport. Will I make it in time, or will the clock beat me? ⏱️
Some sections of the journey, especially the dirt tracks and off-road trails, were extremely challenging due to the rough and difficult terrain. Every mile pushed me harder, making the countdown even more intense.
Along the way, you’ll see everything from lush woodlands and hidden waterways to the wide-open coastal views as we arrive in Southport. This isn’t just a bike ride — it’s a full journey across Merseyside and West Lancashire on two wheels.
📍 Route Highlights:
Starting at Carr Mill Dam (St Helens)
Cycling rural country lanes and backroads
Following canal towpaths through the countryside
Tackling difficult dirt tracks and rough terrain
Racing the 3-hour deadline to Southport by the sea
Perfect for cyclists who love long rides, mixed terrain adventures, and scenic UK cycling routes. Whether you’re into road biking, gravel riding, or casual cycle touring, this route has it all — plus the challenge of the clock ticking down.
