After a couple of years looking forward to this moment and a month of researching online, I finally got my first gravel bike: the Giant Revolt Advanced 2. When I hit my first unpaved stretch yesterday evening, I can’t deny it felt pretty special. My first experience with gravel riding and the bike has been great—except for my Wahoo still acting up due to the well-known bug and me getting lost halfway through. But hey, that’s part of the adventure too.
Of course, I’ll spend some time getting to know the bike first, but I’m already curious about your experiences with this model (2024) and what upgrades you’ve done or would recommend. On my long-term wish list I’ve got:
- Different tires (something that handles gravel well but still rolls reasonably fast on tarmac, suggestions?)
- A Shimano GRX crankset
Would you recommend those as upgrades? Or are there other suggestions you’d add to my list?
Looking forward to your thoughts, thanks!

What tires do you have on there now?
Sick bike! I got the Revolt Advanced 3 (2024) a few months ago, and I love it. I totally feel you on those tires feeling like they’re slow on pavement. I’ve been thinking about the Gravelking Semi-Slicks as a nice balance, but I haven’t pulled the trigger yet.
I’d be interested if someone had a good wheelset recommendation for a bike like this.
Mooie fiets! Veel fietsplezier!
I have the 2022 aluminum version of this and I use the Pirelli Cinturato H 45c. They work well for the sandy and hardpack bike trails I ride, and can keep up with road group rides (avg speed of 30kph). They’re not the fastest on road and off road, but they work well for my use case.
