I am currently on a bikepacking trip from Berlin to Lisbon. Today I finally arrived in Belgium and out of nowhere I met the Alpecin Deceuninck Team. Had a nice chat with the mechanics and they gave me a bottle! Definitely made my day. Tomorrow I‘ll arrive in Brussels 🌱

We had the Cyclassics recently in Hamburg and the sight of the crew guy opening a cooler and simply letting everyone grab one (or two) bottles while he “reorganizes” them won’t stop being funny.
Like, for real, he simply opened the cooler and just turned away as if he didn’t see us bystanders standing there.
I also took the opportunity to give the contents a taste, they had Maurten all over their livery. I wasn’t riding so it tasted extremely sweet but hey, at least I know now that it doesn’t taste bad.
On a side note, the way they simply handle these bikes worth multiple thousand euros. There was one guy jet blasting the crap out of the bikes that come in at the finish and how they simply put the bare frames on the ground 🥲
Also also, I wonder how big of a problem theft is. I mean, I obviously didn’t do it and won’t do so, but the AXS batteries were quite accessible…
