I had originally intended to continue towards St. John’s, Newfoundland and complete the route. My allotted budget had other plans and I will hopefully continue eastbound next spring.
The trip totalled 88 days, including (sometimes multiple) rest days each week.
The bike has gone through three rear tires, two front tires, three chains and cassettes, one replacement inner and middle chainring, several new derailleur cable housings, a bottom bracket bearing replacement, new grips halfway through, a changeover to SPD pedals and shoes, two sets of brake pads, new derailleur pulleys, and new front hub bearings. I’m grateful that my silly 1991 Giant ATX 760 took all this abuse well.
I’m proud to say that my wallet gave out before my legs, my mind, or the bike. This has been an incredible learning experience and I will definitely do better next time around.
