Hey all,
I’ve replaced my e-bike inner tube twice now (20×2.25 tire, with compatible tubes… first a schrader, now a dunlop valve), but every time I mount the tube I get a weird bulge at the base of the valve, right where it sits in the rim.
It almost seems as if the tube itself is incompatible therefore too “long” for my bike’s rim and therefore has this excess that turns into a “bulge”. I even tried riding it and its very noticeable, as if the rim had a clamp around it exactly where the bulge sits.
This tube is supposed to be the right size (20″ / ETRTO 40–62-406, my tyre as “20×2.25” written on it and the bike itself is a Rich Bit Top 730) , so in theory it should fit. But since this is the second time I’ve mounted and it happened both times, I’m wondering:
Is this tube compatible and im just mounting it wrong?
Could I be pinching or not seating the tire correctly around the valve hole?
Any tips/tricks for getting the valve base area to sit flush when installing?
Not sure if I’m doing something wrong here or if it’s just how some inner tubes are built. Appreciate any advice before I keep wasting time/money on tubes that look wrong.
