Hello everyone, my last cycling trip was 15 years ago!
I decided to do it again with a 27.5 inch cube mountain bike that I modified into a rigid gravel.
It weighed 28kg fully loaded and I didn't leave. Light but comfortable.
On the way there I passed through Creuse, Auvergne, then the Jura region of northern Switzerland.
And the return swore, Auvergne, Limousin, Périgord and back to my home in Nantes.
There was quite a bit of bad weather in Switzerland, 10 degrees for the minimum, and a heatwave on return to France with 41 degrees for the hottest.
I only did wild camping during the stay, this being quite simple and I like it.
The total stay is 14 days and 2415km and 25,000 elevation gains.
I had fun throughout this trip and it appealed to others!

  1. Congrats !

A lot of french bikepackers and France-area trip reports recently ! (mine included, lol).

    I share the same philosophy/approach!

How it was in Switzerland and Austria ? (I don’t know their position about bivouac)

I didn’t understood that part. 28kg was also the total weight of my bike fully loaded. I wouldn’t say it was “light” 😀

Edit: “username checkout” – love it !

For sure, you’re french. Did you drank a lot of “eau ferrugineuse” during your trip ? 😀
