Same thing keeps happening to me with Conti Grand Prix 4 Season. When I’ve contacted Conti about it, they’ve just said it’s time to replace the tires, and they won’t say more about it, even with my follow ups. I seem to get about 6-9 months and around 2500 miles in before it happens.

I’ve run these Conti ultra sports as training tyres for a very long time and also seen this on those and others (Vittoria for example) – I think as long as the metal hoop of the bead (if non-folding ie stiff hoop?) isn’t exposed to the tyre bed on rim (and potentially in contact with the inner tube) then you’re good to go. If a new purchase I’d go to shop and moan a bit, ask for a replacement. But first I’d take it off and give it a very close inspection and keep an eye on it if I wanted to get further kms out of it (best part of regular cleaning is the attendant closer inspection of ‘mission critical’ components!)
