This may seem like a silly question, but should I replace my tires. I don’t have experience with deciding when a tire is too worn.

I believe I have an Assagai in the front and a Dissector in the back. To me it looks like the back tire with the problem area circled in red may need to be changed. The inside of the knobs looks pretty rough. The knobs on the front tire just look a bit rounded to me.

So, should I replace them? I was thinking I’d put a faster moving tire in the front if I do.

Those still look like they have a lot of life left in them to me. At least the side knobs. The middle tread looks a bit more work but you could still ride those more.

It’s not mandatory. The side knobs are starting to tear, so you’re losing a bit of performance as they might deflect instead of bite into the dirt. You’d definitely notice an improvement if you swapped them out, but they still have life.

I usually ride mine until a few side knobs are totally gone. Tires are expensive!

  4. For me the only thing I care about on my rear is the cornering knobs. Those are undercut and will feel squirmy in any sort of hard pack. I loved my Dissector, and Maxxis for that matter but I can never get the cornering knobs last long on those.
