I just got it, and applied the proofide as directed. does it look right? I'm used to no maintenance saddles and nervous about handling it correctly.

Looks great! Buff it off the top with a soft rag.
Looks fine to me. Maybe rub it with a cotton rag to get the shine up.
I didn’t ride mine for an extended period and the saddle got unusually hard, so I slathered the proof hide onto it, top and bottom, twice to get it back to being nice and springy.
