  1. I’ve had no problems with the Rockbros hooks. They’re fine.

The bags don’t stay 100% waterproof, so be careful how you pack stuff.

There’s lots of different plastic materials, some are very strong. It’s probably fine.

  3. Used these for a three day bike packing trip. 50% gravel trails and canals. They survived fine though the bottom bracket bounced off the rack a couple of times. Quite pleased with them for the money.

The hooks of our Ortlieb panniers are also made from plastic and held up fine during 28.000 kms round the world bicycle journey. I wouldn’t worry about that.

  5. They’re also plastic with Ortliebs, and many consider them the gold standard in panniers. So plastic can perform very well. Rockbros are specialised in cycling gear, have a good reputation and I expect that they will want to avoid uncessesary returns under warranty, so they likely will have tested this system quite extensively. However, anything can break if you hit a tree, a moose, a traffic controller or a hot dog stand. Always bring a few smaller and larger tie-wraps. They weigh next to nothing but might become extremely useful as an emergency solution in case something does break on your bike/gear.

  6. All quality panniers (Ortleib, Vaude, others) have snapping hooks made of plastic. Make sure the hook is clamped fully and solidly to your rack, not loose or overtight, and there should be no cause for concern. They should last for many years.
