Hello, I need a commuter bike for my work and I have a big crush on this vintage VTT (Sunn Tox 97) with a BMX handlebar. Wheels are 26’.
What would be the downside of this bike for bikepacking? For example ~500km on easy road (90% cycle lane, flat). Idk in how many days.
The bike fit me, and I have budget for some upgrade. I have plan to go bikepacking next summer.
Thank you and I apologize for the broken English!

Honestly, it looks really good to me. I’d just make a few changes for extra comfort. I’d swap the saddle for a more comfortable one, and replace the handlebar grips with something more ergonomic. I’d also add mudguards and lights. I really like the tires, and with the number of gears you have, you’ll be able to go quite far. And a back rack for some panniers!
I saw a guy who bought bike from the streets for like 10 bucks and went ащк traveling, since then I believe everything is possible as long as you really want it. There will be minuses, but you will figure out them later and fix it with the time, just go for it
Looks fine so long as it fits well.
Seat and grips to taste, a rear rack, and hit the road 😎
