good morning The first night wild camping here in Pakistan was a success No one bothered me here at the beautiful lake boarded So now let’s pack up the tent That’s all packed up Let’s go And we’re back on the Kakotm Highway Now let’s try to find a restaurant for breakfast Let’s see This looks like it might be a restaurant Hello Hello Thank you very much Welcome All right I’d like to eat something Uh I have ready in soup Yeah Also something else or only soup only soup Okay Then I take one soup Okay You also have bread with it or you have like paratha or chapati with it or uh I have a very much Have a good one Bye-bye Let’s continue I’m actually not too sure what the plan for today and the next few days is So I’m just going to go with the flow But today I should make it to Karimabat which is the next bigger town and I should be able to get a SIM card there hopefully So I’ll finally have some internet after seven days here in Pakistan I guess that’s the goal for today And here we have Lake Atabat Wow look at that color Amazing But the story how this lake was created it’s actually rather tragic Some time ago there was a major flooding here in the region which caused the river to be blocked by a massive landslide And the flooding also destroyed lots of homes So people had to resettle and everything And the water kept rising because the river was blocked And people had to travel by boat You can see some boats down there Nowadays they probably used for tour tourism only But back then because the road was also damaged they had to use the boat to travel to the lower valleys And then at some point the Chinese government helped out and built new tunnels going straight through the mountains some of them kilometers long And nowadays the situation of course is back to normal but was really a sad story back then And now we’re left with a beautiful lake However here we have the first of I believe three tunnels Luckily there’s not much traffic on the road but I’m still going to put on a helmet just to be safe And here we go Doesn’t look like we have any lights but the road seems to be pretty decent That wasn’t too bad but I believe that was the shortest one The next one is like 2 and 12 km long Let’s hope that one will have some lights Here we go No lights either which is not good because I don’t have any lights on my bicycle cuz I tend to not cycle when it’s dark Okay this somewhat works Not sure you can see me but I’m using my headlamp as my light cuz otherwise I wouldn’t be able to see anything Made it That wasn’t as bad as I expected I’ve been in worse tunnels like in Tajjikistan but here there was mostly downhill and barely any traffic and a beautiful view And the last one apparently this is actually the longest 3 km Let’s do this This one is definitely the worst one The road is the worst And it’s also pretty dusty in here But we’ve almost made it Made it We get to live another day Let’s go And we’re almost there Right down there in the distance is Karimabat today’s destination And then right at the very end in the clouds should be Raka Poshi Another very famous mountain standing 7,788 m tall I believe But unfortunately I’m heading to a hostel where I’m going to stay for a couple days work on some videos But of course they had to build it on a really steep hill But at least we got a really nice view of Raka Pashi over there Amazing All right a few days have passed and it’s time to get back on a bike I actually stayed in my tent here because the hostel actually has a really nice garden which is of course cheaper to stay in And welcome back to the Kakotam Highway It’s a beautiful sunny day Almost a bit hot already like probably early 20s mid20s But let’s do this This road really is something else I mean just by the side of the road you have like a 300 m tall mountain face where rocks can fall down at any moment Crazy You can see it right here There used to be a road running along the mountain and then there was a big landslide and now look at that The construction guys are trying to fix the road Wow Wow What a view of the north face of Raka Pashi 7,788 m tall and located just in the middle valley right here where I’m cycling is where the Eurasian and the Indian plate meet and they create this beautiful valley And I’m not sure if that’s the reason why it’s so windy This road is so unbelievably sketchy I mean just look at this This wall of rocks just waiting for a tragedy to happen right here Oh you’re fast Let’s go It’s a restaurant Yes it’s open Okay Asalam alaikum How are you
