I’m trying to remove this crankset from a vintage Falcon road bike, to convert to a single speed.
What tools do I need to do this? I have tried using a Hex Socket Wrench and managed to get the bolt out. But on the left crank it just wouldn’t budge.
Do I need a crank puller tool?
I essentially just want to remove the crankset so I can change it to a 1x speed sprocket.
This is my first bike build and I’m clueless so any noob advice would be great, thanks!

Yeah, you need a crank puller. It threads into those female threads you see on the inside of the crank arm. If you don’t know how old it is, you might consider replacing the bottom bracket too while you have the crank arms off.
Make sure to put a thin coat of lithium grease on everything (including the spindle) when reassembling, it will make future disassembly much less painful.
