What is the point of putting all of those upgrades on it, if you’re just going to sell? Bikes don’t accrue value like that lol

People can ask whatever they want for bikes. I follow certain niches in cycling and I have seen stuff sitting for months because it’s just not worth what it might have been a few years ago. Of course this rockhopper was never worth $1500.

like the toyota pickup: what are we even buying anymore?

    we’ve done this to ourselves.

Reminds me of back in the height of the fixie craze when people would try to sell slightly upgraded Specialized Pistas (edit: or their Bianchi Langsters, thanks for the corrections! 😉 for twice the original price.

    lovely restoration on it.

his diminishing returns are going to be massive.

id rather keep the bike at this point.

That fork looks a little front-end-collision-y to me. Maybe the angle of the pic.

One thing is for certain in xbiking: “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts” does not apply!

I have a 90’s Specialized that I’ve put about $1200 in parts on too. I wouldn’t expect to get much of that back if I sold it though. If there’s one thing builds like this are not, it’s a wise financial investment.

Looks like an awesome bike, but damn. I guess if something CAN be done, humans will do it. Even if it doesn’t make sense.

Maybe you should all go out and build your own bikes instead of wasting time talking about mine. Get a life jokers

  10. No doubt a nicely done resto, but that price is absolutely bonkers. People need to realize that the customers looking for bikes like these are just as much into the restoration project itself as they are about riding it.

Anyone that would want that bike wants to be the one to do the build, and anyone willing to pay that much is looking for something brand new, not someone’s project bike.

I am thinking about selling my Resto-modded Jamis Eureka, but feel bad even asking for $250 or BO even though I’d be selling it at a loss.

  11. And, for that kind of money I would expect more than just spray painting over the decals…
