Advice needed:
This alloy version is 16.9kg whereas the carbon is 14.5kg. Alloy is ~£3900, Carbon ~£4700 I'm fussed about the price difference, I dont care about the wireless shifting. I just want a solid trail bike trail bike that can handle the odd bit of enduro/dh but isn't a slog on the ups and flats.
Does anyone have experience with either or both of these bikes? Did one feel better and why?

The carbon frame doesnt have ports for shifting cables, right? That would push me away from that frame, and I like carbon so I’d even be considering other models. But if you want mechanical shifting then you’re on the aluminum frame
Buy the aluminum for the better components and spend the extra you would’ve on carbon for some nice carbon wheels. You end up with a better riding bike in the long run.
Just get aluminum If price is a concern, the amount of people posting on all the bike subs about possibly tanking their carbon frame from a bad shift or small crash is wild, aluminum is cheaper, and the money you save whilst also not having to worry about it is worth it on its on
From a performance capacity neither you nore I would be able to tell the difference over a 75km weekend ride, I’m fairly positive
Aluminum is also easier for the home mechanic, grease can eat carbon so you have to be mindful of what gets grease and what gets carbon paste while on aluminum everything gets grease
Just my two cents
TLDR if cost is your biggest concern when getting carbon; just get aluminum
That alloy one is sick. Unless you really care about the weight I’d get it. I think in this case I’d lean toward cost savings.
That’s a huge weight difference, 5.3 lbs for Americans. I seriously don’t understand how they are making the alloy version so heavy.
Tbh have a look on the Commencal
Expect it to be heavier.
My status is listed as 15.5kg. The bike from the shop is 17.5kg.
“Weights based on production painted frames as pictured. Actual weights will vary based on colorway, frame size, and component variation. Specifications are subject to change without notice.”
Perhaps frame only weights?!?!?
