My wife and I are starting to search for a used bike for her – she’s 5”9 so a Large. She tried medium and it was too small. Ideally, she wants fx because you don’t have to sit up like a verve but really we just want the best bang for your buck. We are both totally new to cycling. Thoughts on some of the bikes we have found recently online? Thanks in advance.

I just sold a 22’ FX3 for $450 and have seen others around that range. FX is a great round-town bike and you can put some bigger tires on there (up to 38’s) to cushion it up while still being pretty quick. Verve is for very casual riding at low speeds (think board walks, greenways at relaxed pace) and is heavier. If you get a large she may benefit from a shorter handlebar stem (ex: 70mm) which will make the position a little more upright and comfortable.
