I think the steel frame State bike would be better for bikepacking. Alloy frames, like the Canyon have worked fine for many long trips. I’ve done a lot of touring on alloy frame bikes, but those were touring on streets. Bikepacking could use the extra strength of steel.

I just went for my first ride on my State. I love it so much. Steel feels great on the road and gravel . I upgraded to the SRAM AXS gear set. Seems like a cool company. I was considering an Obed and trek, but I felt like I was getting more bike for the money. Feel free to ask me anything
