Join us on the first half of our “Honeymoon Tour de France” through the French regions Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur. We started our trip following “La Voie Verte” cycling route through beautiful countryside scenery, vineyards and alongside remodelled train stations; extensively explored the metropolis of Lyon by bike, followed “La Voie Bleue” along the rivers and finally entered the famous “ViaRhôna” cycling path alongside the river Rhône.

It was a hot summer and we often cycled in 36 degrees sunshine – a tough cycling challenge! Cycling through France was a great way to explore places in a more slow-paced way and we thoroughly enjoyed the stunning outdoor sceneries.

So, here we are. We’re about to set up on our tour to France. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. We’re cycling to Makon today. We started in JeLau um also a wine place and visited um friends who are there on holiday and stayed with them which is lovely. Um our friends from Japan actually. And yeah, we have about 50 km or so more to do. So, we better crack on now. Heat. Heat. We’re in a beautiful village now called Kata and it’s alongside the Ganda which is the wine road that goes through Burgundy and um yeah it’s been a really nice cycle because there’s basically a converted railway line that’s now a cycle track that goes right the way alongside this road and there’s vineyards and medieval villages all the way. So, um, highly recommended. Really nice cycle. So, we’ve just cycled through this tunnel. Tunla and it’s 1.6 km long and um actually we were just really overheating just before we went in there because it’s really really hot at the moment and the tarmac heated up and we also had quite a steep climb. So this was just perfect cuz it’s about 14° in there and it’s all lit up the whole way across as well. So this is just exactly what we needed. So, we stayed overnight in a village near Macco with one of Chrissy’s family friends. Had a great meal last night. Um, sat out here on the terrace watching the stars. And now we’ve had a really nice breakfast and we’re about to hit the road and go down to VR. Heat. Heat. Wow. Wow. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. are in Leon Sunday morning. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. We’re now in Tol. We got the local trainer T the T down from Leon. It was very very crowded even though we had booked places for our bikes. Um, no chance. We were just had to basically just force our way wherever we could and we were in everybody’s way. Lots of other bikes. But anyway, we’re going to go along the road now on the Via Rona path. We just need to find it. But must be on one of these banks. It’s very beautiful here. Quite a strong wind though. Um, and we’re going to cycle just to the south of Balance. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat up here. Incredibly hot here. It’s about 36° and we’re just constantly sweating. Um it’s really important obviously to have loads of water. We’ve got two water bottles each, but actually it’s it’s not enough really between the water points we’ve found. So um definitely recommend to take lots of water bottles with you and um download the water app to find where the stations are. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat up here. Heat. Heat. N. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Today we cycled um about 15 kilometers from Mont Lima, a little bit south and to the other side of the Ron to a small village called um Vivier which is very historic And um it was stunning. We had a little break time there. Went to a bakery and did some sightseeing. And then we cled just a bit further and we had to push our bikes at the end up a little mountain to a hotel we’re staying in today with a pool. Um it was so tough. We both thought we’re going to get a heat stroke. It was like I don’t know 30 36°. Um but we made it and then immediately refreshed in the pool. So, that was great. Even thought about extending another night, but there was a clash with another booking we already have. But that’s fine. Um, we have other exciting things coming up, so we spent an amazing night in San Tom. We really enjoyed the hotel here and the restaurant and the little town and walking over to the village over there. Uh we had a really good breakfast and now we’re going to take the long route round to Lapalude which is near the rone. Um but we’re going to visit a few ancient villages along the way. on our way to a village called LNA. This route over the mountain is a bit steeper than Google Maps made out. It is very scenic, but it’s definitely a bit of a challenge in the heat. So, we’re just taking it easy and pushing it up this little stretch, but it’s very beautiful up here. Heat. Hey, heat. Hey, heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. N. Hey.
