Soooo I want to be able to start doing some packing without always having to leave the boy behind. Simple stuff, mild single track. Curious if anyone has done this with a large dog? Obviously the BoB trailer is a little small… but I’ve thought about modifying it? He has a very strong “Place” command and won’t leave unless released so we have rode on wihh the the BoB around the neighborhood. Unless anyone has any recommendations for a large dog? I see 2 wheel trailers of course but I’d like to be able to get out in the woods (will let him run on steep stuff). Thank you 🙂

Omg he looks so cute. 😍
He could just run behind or beside you?
Hahaha, I’m dying of love… he’s ready to go!
I used a baby stroller… in addition to allowing him to rest, it protected him a little from the sun
I got it very cheaply on the second-hand market.

Something like that
Don’t know how the dimensions compare to your current trailer (and the price is like $75 more than the last time I drooled over one) but this trailer is my dream trailer: https://burley.com/products/coho-xc
I read a blog from someone who took their large dog packing, and the dog was allowed to run a lot of the time. I guess if you’re around many other people it wouldn’t be great, and you’d need to make sure to collect the morning turds, but I’m sure most dogs would love to move more.
He’s got that “boss, are you serious?” look on his face😅
I’d be real concerned about tail/paw/snoot vs. spoke type situations with the current size. At the very least, you should have some kinda shrouds at the front and back to keep your pup from sticking something where it doesn’t belong.
It probably wouldn’t be TOO hard to cut the frame, find some extrusion that fits well inside the frame, and bolt in place. Personally, I’d probably have the inner extrusion piece run the full length of the outer sleeve/frame. Minimum 2x bolts on either side.

My dog weighs 40 kg (88 lbs).
Do put Schwalbe cargo tires on that trailer. We’ve done about 2000 km (1240 miles) with it now and still 4000 km (2485 miles) to go.
Sometimes he walks along (when I’m riding uphill). In this weather he wears his ruff wear boots to prevent his paws from burning on hot asphalt. I tend to avoid riding when it’s too hot (we’re chilling a whole week in the same place now because of the heat).
But if he does walk next to me, I’m riding at his pace and not longer than 1.5 km (1 mile). To walk next to the bicycle, I have a “walky dog” attachment.
While he can sleep in the trailer, he prefers to sleep in his own (dog) tent.

Burley has large breed trailers.
This looks way too small for the dog.
I’d see how much space he needs to lie down and go with that.
