Forced Patina, as I like to call it.
I had the frame sandblasted and was originally going to have it powered coated, but the costs were rising so I thought I’d try something else.
The sandblasting left quite a rough finish, so I gave it a good sanding and a good rub down with some steel wool. Although smooth to the touch, it is still quite pitted, which I really like.
I felt it needed something else, so I gave it a watered down wash with some miniature (warhammer) paints, and anything that looked too ‘fake’ was coated with a silver to match back to the steel, a little at least.
It may not be to everyone’s taste, but with some replacement decals and a smothering of mud/dust, I think it’ll look good.

I am all for novelty I think it looks great. Going to clear coat it?
You could look into kurouchi finishes on Japanese knives and tools if you want to geek out a bit. I think they look great personally.
Just get some decals and clear coat it and you have my approval 100%
Surely a pair of tan wall maxxis ardents would go so hard on that frame
Ok ok. I’m very down with this (coming from a trek 970 xbike owner)
This is just begging for the mone meal replacement bar.
