Is your fork or your shock bottoming out?

I had a buddy complain about the same thing, we went over fork/shock/pivots/bottom bracket. Turned out his headset wasn’t properly preloaded. So check that as well.

  2. Sounds like possibly bottoming out the rear shock. What PSI are you running, and thus sag? Also, any volume spacers? Might need to add one. Or, if you are getting older like me, could be your knees.

Check your shock mount bolts, bottom bracket, and headset.. if fine could just be chain slap

  4. I can’t tell what it is but I had a similar issue and it was actually my brake rotor being not torqued to spec and it would “ding” the brake pads on big impacts lol, all I had to do was loosen em up and redo it to spec in the correct pattern

  5. I’ve had trouble bottoming out the fox float dps on my 5010. It sounds sorta like this. Does your Bronson run the same shock?

check all your bolts. headset, suspension pivots, axles, etc. if you have shimano shifting, make sure your clutch is engaged. make sure your climb switch on your shock is in the softer position when descending. check that you have enough PSI in the suspension. if you are running it soft and bottoming out, put in a token or two. put a chain slap guard on your chainstay. if you have a tool kit on your bike, make sure it’s not just tools hitting each other in the bag they’re in. if it still persists, have a shop check it out.

Where does it sound like its coming from? I had a click like that driving me crazy. Turned out to be the super thin carbon headset spacers. Swapped them out for standard aluminum and it solved it completely

  8. Does it also make this noise on janky/ rough terrain, then the bearings on your headset are probably broken or badly damaged. I just replaced mine on my Santa Cruz and the noise was similar.

I can hear a clunk as you leave the jump, if you don’t have play in the linkage I’d look at whether the compression and rebound are working on the rear shock

  10. I get a similar sound from the clutch on my derailleur from similar jumps. Jumps and drops will make it break through the tension of the clutch and it makes a loud clicking sort of sound.

  11. Funny you post this. My Vitus makes the exact same sound when it lands off jumps. Never makes it if you push down, but slam the bike down or bunny hop it makes a loud click. I’ve taken the chain off checked/tightened everything. Removed the rear shock no click anymore.

I have had the shock serviced no issues found. It’s a rockshox super deluxe. Never found the issue and been like this for a year. Would be great to find a fix but may just end up replacing it entirely.
