I'm working on my drops and can't seem to get the timing of the push down so it looks like videos online where folks seems to float parallel a little. I thinkkkk I am pushing too late? How do you think about when to start your push, particularly at variable speeds?
Do you ever develop a "feel" for it? it seems different then jumping where you can feel the forces under your feet. i think ive been instinctually waiting to push until my front wheel hits the edge because its the first thing i can "feel"

Honestly, looks to me like you’re riding way over the front of the bike coming into the drop, almost unnaturally. Relax, it will make your riding so much better.
As the front tire approaches the lip of the drop, push the bars forward. This will force both you and the bike into the correct position.
Somebody will probably say, “bunny hop off the drop” but that’s the wrong technique and will end up with you crashing.
You look like you are doing a lot on that drop. Watch some videos on it. Should be a pretty smooth feel.
You can practice the push on flat ground. When done correctly the bike should move forward under you and you can create a bit of forward momentum. That’s how you know you have the correct form.
I’d recommend watching the whole video, but he goes over practicing at the 6:50 mark (which is where I linked the video to start).
