2025 British 4x Series – Round 5 & 6. Shredhill, Gloucestershire

Rounds 5 and 6 of the 2025 Schwalbe British 4x Series head over to sunny Wales to Shredhill in Gloucestershire.

This has been a favourite of many racer, who love this fast and furious track with multiple jumps it always creates a spectators dream being able to view the whole track from start to finish.

Approaching the half way point in the season this was the Round to make the difference to the overall series but in 4x, nothing is guaranteed.

Morning YouTube. We are on the way to Shred Hill for round five and six of the British forcross series. It’s a firm favorite with a lot of riders. Normally, this is a fast, flowy, jumpy track. This morning, however, we have rain, so I have no idea when I get down there whether it’s going to be a hard pack track that’s just patted down lovely with a bit of rain or whether we’re going to be in for an absolute mud fest. So, let’s get down there. Let’s have a look. See what the track looks like. I cannot wait. So, we made it here. It is dry on the ground at the minute. There is rain in the air, but hopefully that means that any loose dust is going to get tacked down. I tell you what, these walk ups, they never get any easier. You can see there’s a lot of people already here and we are only early hours. It’s not even 9:00. We made it to the start of the race. So, this is going to be the start ramp for rounds five and six of the Shby British Frog Cross series. And the track so far is looking really dry. Actually, I was expecting to see it a lot wetter uh given the rain that we’ve driven down through, but it is still very, don’t you see? Still very dusty. So, I reckon that’s going to mean I should be all right on the tires that I put on the bike. But luckily, I brought spares just in case we need them. So, we will see how the day pans out. just want for these gray clouds that are just over here to go and disappear, burn off, do something. But I like a dry day. This is one of the fastest sections. As you can see, it’s a very, very long straight. Now, if you watch my videos from last year, you’ll see that Isaac Williams pulled an absolute mega move um at the end of this straight. But no wonder it’s so fast. [Music] [Music] We have a track change and we are missing out this part of the track. We’re going off to the side. We’re going grass tracking. Should be fun. [Music] So, mistake number one, don’t pack all your kit. So, I haven’t packed my clip shoes today. So, I’m riding flats. Not the end of the world, just means that I’ll lose a bit of power down the first straight. But do you know what? With the weather doing what it is, might not be the worst thing in the world to be uh put out flat out, as they say. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Well, I want to thank Ben James me for that. He has just lent me a pair of clip shoes. So, luckily I don’t have to try and survive in flats. We got the clip shoes. So, thankfully I’m going to feel a bit better getting out the gates. Uh, I’m sure I’m going to be facing Chris Evans again. Good old Edi. Um, it’s been some really good racing today. Uh it’s felt really weird, but again, massive shout out and thanks to to Ben Jones for the lens lending of the shoes. Um these things have been uh definitely keeping me um getting out the gate a little bit quicker than I was on the flat. So really do appreciate it. It just goes to show the forecast community really come together when in your time of need. So So it’s definitely a great sport to be involved in. Um, not the result that I was expecting after the way I was riding today, but do you know what? Sometimes lady luck is on your side and today she most definitely was. Unfortunately for Mr. Evans, Chris, that was a huge, huge slam in that final. I mean, how you got up from that and we saw you just wandering around with a beer. Um, I will never know, but glad to see you are up and on your feet and hopefully not feeling too bad of bruise. Fingers crossed we see you on the gate tomorrow for round six. So, for me, I am on my way back. I am going to go and find my clip shoes, which I have left. So, I will make sure I have them tomorrow so there’s no excuses from me with flats and not my shoes and we shall start again in the morning. So, the racing starts a little bit earlier. Um, but hopefully that means that the day will be done a little bit sooner too and get back and start the cleanup. So, um, let’s see what tomorrow brings. So, we’ll see you in the morning. [Music] Good morning the world of YouTube. It is round number six. It is day two at Shred Hill of the Extra British Broad Crossing Series. So yesterday we had a nice dry and dusty day apart from a little rain in practice. Today we are expecting thunderstorms. Whether that transpired or not, we don’t know because of the fact that Shred Hill seems to have its own little weather ecosystem, but we will find out when we get down there. So, let’s get some miles in. Let’s see what the track looks like. So, we made it to the track and I am pleased to say that thankfully it’s not looking too bad. The actual weather itself, it is gray and I think we are going to see some rain today. We do have the jacket, but I’m hoping that I’m not going to need it. But the track is dry enough that I think I can get away with practice on the normal tires. So, let’s get up. Let’s get up there. [Music] Well, that was an eventful lunch break. So, the heavens have opened and uh despite there actually being a little bit of blue sky, um the track has had an absolute dousing of rain. So, uh I’ve changed the tires. I’ve gone from the Rock Razers to uh a NY on the front and a Wicked Will on the back. Surely be coming up with the quality names. Um so about to go racing. We are merged with the uh Grand Vet. So we’re uh merged category now is from 40 years of age up to 59 years of age. Uh and that was because there was only a couple of riders in that other category. Um although I know they are very quick. So it’s not going to be a walk in the park by any stretch of the imagination. and look forward to it. So, let’s just get up there. Let’s get on that gate. I cannot believe how close that was all day. And it was brilliant to have the Grand Vets in with us as well. Hey, what a wardrobe. And the winner of your masters 40 to 49 it is Matt Hillard [Applause] [Music] [Music] 40 to 49. What a weekend. Couldn’t have asked for any better weekend and any better results than that. Uh to come away with a couple of wins. Puts us in a strong position for the overall now, which is obviously the main goal. But it was good today as we had a mix of the vets and the grand vets or should I say masters 40 to 49 and the masters 5059. So we merged categories uh and Matt and Gary were on fire all day. So massive shout out to you guys for absolutely flying and giving us um a bit of a more spicy competition um to add to the mix as well. Gary, I know you had a bit of a tumble in the A final, so uh healing vibes to you and hopefully you are back up on your feet and on a bike sooner rather than later. Um I know you’ve been absolutely flying all season, so hopefully that’s not um dampened your spirits at all in that sense. The series now rolls on to Felmouth the 9th and 10th of August and it’s a cracking track.
