Welcome to the new video and welcome to the completely new cycling route. The name of this route is Häme by Cycle, with the keywords Gravel and Bikepacking, which means a lot of wonderful gravel roads and nature attractions. This route covers 650 kilometers, of which I drive about 280. I shot this video at the end of May and now this route is finally published. Welcome, let’s go see what the route has to offer. And since it’s Häme by Cycle, I decided that my tour starts here in Hämeenlinna and the Hämeenlinna train station. It’s really convenient to come here with a bike by train. Or you can jump on the train from here and start your journey home. Other stations can also be found conveniently along this route. There is RiihimäkI, then just north of Forssa there is Humppila. And you should take advantage of them when you plan to come here on the route. But now let’s head from Hämeenlinna towards the first place to spend the night, which is Pääjärvi’s lean-to shelter. Surprise, surprise! In Pääjärvi. Then it’s time to start shaking off the city dust. A great beach route and you can enjoy yourself in Hämeenlinna. Bypassing the city was planned very comfortably on the route. Oh, just kidding, I’m a fan of ridges. This Ahvenisto ridge is absolutely amazing, where you can ride this route You can say it’s almost summer. For a while you can ride without extension sleeves. But “sleeves are not burnt” on the contrary. It’s a really wonderful route. There are some ups and downs in this Ahvenisto area. And even now it’s a bit more technical. There are a few stones and roots here, but very good in moderation. There are a few more challenging places here, as you can see. I packed my bike quite lightly this time. It is indeed a good choice for this route. It’s a bit of a transition on the side of the road. So nice, the dandelion fields are in full bloom over there. Now it’s 28 kilometers from Hämeenlinna. The journey continues. Nice gravel road. I had to stop when there is such a great old building there. Old abandoned farm buildings. Gravel roads of this type are my personal favorites. Fast, variable, good surface, angular. I’d say I prefer round. Just kiddin, however, you can’t be too excited about this warmth and greenery after a long winter. It has been an exceptionally cold spring so far. It’s sweet again. Renkajärvi, place name. Ridges continue. I must have mentioned in an earlier video that I’m a fan of glacial erratics. Just wow There’s a great deal waiting there. Let’s go take a closer look. This route is really sweet now. So sickly cool. Like a cottage road without any settlement. Now we have come from here to the west of Renko. A bit like champagne gravel, a gravel road. So this actually rolls better than many asphalt surfaces. Wonderfully smooth. Yes. You can comfortably feel the wilderness here, even though we are in the very south of Finland. Now it’s not just any road, but an old ruin road that has been in continuous use from the 16th century until the 1930s. This route can still be used from here. In fact, it aligns with this, and the Ilvesreitti also follows this route. Pretty cool. Old sheds. I wouldn’t go on this route on a road bike. That’s how much it has already grown, but with a 45mm Tires like this are very comfortable to ride on. Now we are in the Pääjärvi recreation area and there is also the Pääjärvi lean-to. Let’s go and see. We are at the destination. Looks good. Actually, really, really good. Even calm weather. So nice First great day behind on this route. Now the evening routines are done. There is a bivy inside the shed ready to wait for the sleeper. You could sleep there just fine without it, but there are so many mosquitoes that I put the bivy in there like that. Of course, there are sleeping bags and sleeping pads inside. It’s okay to wake up from here tomorrow morning. Thank you for today and see you tomorrow! Good morning from here on Pääjärvi’s lean-to shelter. Had a really long night’s sleep here. Very rare when sleeping in a shed or sleeping outside in general. You usually have to wake up really early. Now it seemed to be around eight o’clock. I had to sleep very, very long dreams. The first night in nature always goes a little more restless. Maybe that also had a little effect on the fact that I had to sleep a little longer that morning . A really great route yesterday. A nice moderate 80 kilometers. Today we will continue the route eastwards. to the Saari folk park From there, we head towards Liesjärvi National Park and Hyypiö’s rental cabin. Now we’re having a bit of a morning here on the lean-to. Let’s put the stuff in a bag and get back on the road. Day number two is underway and now we have progressed from that side of Hämeenlinna to here in Tammela. This is a familiar road to me. I think the last time I drove this was in slightly different conditions. It’s funny that the route goes right here, because last summer I was wondering what kind of place this is. My 1000 kilometer trip last summer just went through this and I wondered where I am, what this place is. So it is the teaching and research farm of Mustiala. In such an old milieu. This is the Hamk University of Applied Sciences campus. Nice milieu, let’s ride through this. In fact, the campus lunch restaurant would have still been open, but a busload of senior citizens rushed there. There was no point in going there all sweaty. Since the translator doesn’t understand what a “pizza in a scarf in Tammela” means, I’ll just say, I ate a pizza in Tammela. Also, tip tip, if Tammela is nearby, you can get pizza until half past two because the kitchen there is open late. So in Tammela Taverna. No joke, these dandelion meadows look great. It’s a great time for cycling adventures. The time between spring and summer, when these dandelions bloom. Now let’s go and admire the Saari folk park. It’s a really, really great place. Let’s hook up in Eerikkilä before Liesjärvi, there is a good-looking trail in the direction of Eerikkilä sports college. Really nice needle trail, pine forest Here, there is a short hike a bike spot like in Ahvenisto. You can ride, of course, but this ridge point is also crossed pretty quickly even by pushing a bike . And what’s the rush, here you can admire these amazing landscapes that are here at the same time Easy and a quiet gravel road. Have been able to ride from that Eerikkilä towards Liesjärvi. It goes into flow mode, when you don’t think about anything, just ride. No traffic and very peaceful. Oh that. Liesjärvi National Park, Kyynärän Harju and Hyypiö rental cabin. For those who have reserved a rental room in Hyypiö, this sauna is also included. And it needs to be heated now. I’ll turn on the sauna, I’ll feel a bit during that time on this Kyynärä ridge and then go to the sauna. The weather is expected to be quite chilly tomorrow morning, so just in case we had to come and feel the evening sun here on the Kyynärä ridge. This is also where I rode last summer on a long trip in the other direction. By the way, it was nice to ride in this direction from Tammela, when it seems like it took you a bit downhill. Although the ascent and descent meters were pretty much 50-50, but it feels at least a little like it went downhill. Good morning. That would be day number three on the Häme by Cycle route. Last night we slept here in a great rental hut in Hyypiö. And at the end of the evening, a great soak in the sauna, which is also part of this rental hut in Hyypiö. It was nice to sleep in a hut for a change after a long time. I’ve been here once, perhaps four years ago, last to stay. A few takeaways from yesterday. Saari folk park, definitely a wonderful place. And then Eerikkilä’s cross-country trails and the ridge. Nice bridge crossing. A really wonderful place. A complete new routes for me. It was great to experience. Otherwise, yesterday was a really nice silky smooth gravel road. It was nice and easy to ride here. Now the intention would be to move back to the main route, i.e. a little towards the north. From there, I will continue to Loppi in the direction of Riihimäki, from where I will continue to Hämeenlinna. Let’s enjoy this day and get on the road. Moved from Liesjärvi back here to the country route. It had the same 14 kilometers of displacement, so not bad. Now the journey continues there in the direction of Melkutin. Another ice cream from the village shop in Räyskälä and the journey continues. This is the seasonal store until the end of September. Open in the summer season. It’s worth a stop. A wonderful new Pilkutin hut site. It’s good to have a small lunch break here. Here you can find a barbecue hut, a couple of such table groups, toilets, trees and beautiful landscapes. The bike has run well today. 80 kilometers have already been driven. Now we are at Riihimäki train station. It’s also good to jump onto this route from here, or just as well at this point you can jump on the train if you feel like you’ve pedaled enough already. My route continues in the direction of Hämeenlinna from here and we’ll see if the wind is still favorable. This trip is like the Tour de Dandelion. Skipped the hill. Now we are here on the outdoor trails of Janakkala in Turenki. It looks good again, we are approaching Hämeenlinna. Now it’s time for the real thing . ‘railside gravel’ Häme by Cycle route came to an end for me. Now we are here at the starting point at the Hämeenlinna train station. It’s convenient to jump on a train from here, or if you want to reward yourself, there’s nothing to stop you from grabbing a hotel in that city and a little bit of sheets after a long trip. The route was really versatile. Today the weather was kind, it didn’t rain even though it was supposed to. The tailwind blew nicely from there, from south to north. Really nice, fast ride. Forest roads, as if you were somewhere much further away than in southern Finland. This route is a good example of the fact that you don’t necessarily have to go far to the north, but you can also ride in southern Finland. And specifically the kind of riding that allows you to be completely at peace. Thank you so much for looking this far. I would really appreciate it if you give a thumbs up, comment on the video and subscribe to the channel if you haven’t already. It’s a big help for me and the channel. All the information related to this route can be found in the description of the video, so go and check the GPX’s and others there. See you in the next video. Bye!

Another incredibly made video! I love the drone shots over the lakes and also how you explain each place you visit.
This is a great piece of bicycle-related video..
Thanks for sharing!
Cheers from Sweden!
