Look to be very similar, get the one you like the look of better, will make you want to ride more. Alternatively choose the one with higher stack and shirt reach for a first Gravelbike, your back will thank you 😉 (unless you’re a super flexible 20yr old ^^)

No experience with either bike but things I’d check out if I were buying an entry level one: brakes (hydraulic vs mechanical), carbon fork vs alloy, max wheel width, gearing ratios (prioritize higher if you want to mainly do flat/downhill, lower if you want to optimize climbs), and mount points for any bags or accessories you care about.

Personally like the frameset of the fuji better. It’s lighter and the internal routing looks way cleaner than the steel. The fuji offers a better climbing gear (30/36) and a better descending gear (46/11) than the Primos.

However, the Microshift Sword groupset is has an excellent reputation, and will probably offer a better performance than the Alivio/Sora combo on the Fuji. Also it looks like the Primos can take wider tires (50mm vs 40mm) which is closer to the standard today.

If you’re looking for a comfortable ride for a varying degree of gravel and a crisp shifting feel, go primos. If you are wanting something you’ll spend 90% of the time on the pavement and take the occasional gravel ride, the fuji will be lighter and faster.

I would do the Primos. It just looks like it was built really intentionally. I think it would be a smoother ride even if it’s a heavier and less modern-looking.

The Fuji looks fine, I like that it has a steel fork and not alloy. But I had those WTB ST i23 rims with cheap spokes on a Framed Basswood and it made for a pretty horrible ride. Numb hands, sore ass.

  5. Both bikes are basically the same weight on specs 26.5lb to 26.7lb, so no brainer choose primos steel frame over Fuji aluminum. Fuji are good bikes but just looking into Primos site/bikes they have lots of personality and seem well made as well. More space for bigger tires and a 1x reliable drivetrain on the Primos.
