Can mountain bikes be used on the road? 🤔🚴🚵
Yes, you can! However, if your riding is mainly on roads or gravel, it might be better to invest in a more specialized road or gravel bike. I frequently get asked if you can take a mountain bike on the road and I say do it if you’re mostly into Riding Road or gravel you should get a more specific type of bike to do those activities but if you’re mostly going in single track off-road you can use a mountain bike the only thing you’re going to do is wear down your tires just a little bit faster because they’re softer and made for dirt other than that ride it you know bikes are meant to be ridden

100% 👍🏻
Bro, why would you not use a mountain bike on the road? It performs basically the same as a road bike
I can not believe why people use road bikes. It is like you buy an super expensive knife but it can only cut fruit
I ride the mountain bike on some pavement occasionally, and it's pretty shocking how slow it is.
most people i know that aren't pros ride mountain bikes everywhere
Honestly any bike can be ridden in almost any conditions. Some are more capable than others. Fitness is key
Ride what you got!!
It just makes your legs stronger with the added friction
Mountain bikes on the road, it just wears more on your tires. If you are good with that, then I say do it.
No they will catch on fire
Thanks I didn’t already know that..
people said roadbike for city ride, but my city road is hilly and hole-ly😂
mtb or bmx all the way😂
I use urban tires on my MTB for road and light trail riding.
I ride my Trek fuel ex on any type of road. Gravel, grass, asphalt, concrete, lose dirt, cobble stones, beach sand and board walks and river rocks. It rides better off the road, but it is fine on the road. My number 1 need is comfort and then functional precision. The Fuel ex 9.8 xt gen 6 is a do all bike. The man in the video is absolutely correct about what bike is best for certain riding conditions.
People just like to make up reasons to buy more bikes, myself included. In truth, most of us could do a lot more with a lot less if need be.
Possible? yes. Smart? No. If you can’t afford to have a dedicated bike for every type of surface then you should stick to walking.
no way. wrong tool for the job
I have a full suspension 4in travel I pull a bob trailer with I go anywhere I want
One can ride any bike on the road, but one cannot ride a road bike on the mountains. It's not about wearing down faster or not, road bikes simply cannot be ridden on the mountains, especially dirt, gravel, muddy, rocky uphills and downhills fuggedaboutit.
Growing up in Mexico, as a kid i would only have one kind of bicycle for everything. Just a regular bike, we would use it for everything. Road, streets and off road. I wouldn’t even pay attention if it was ment to be ridden in certain places, I would just make it happen.
I recently got into mountain biking and I’m loving it, I don’t have an expensive bike, it’s good enough for what I need it for, and it’s one of the most expensive that I’ve ever had.
In conclusion, just ride your bike and enjoy every time you’re on it.
I've always thought of Mt.
BIKES as do anything bikes. Gravel, single track, crazy downhill, road, touring. That's how I've been treating them the last 30 years or more.
my new bike is a Merida Mtn bike – road tires – amazing for climbing hills.
To be honest it's a pretty dumb question…..
Its very common on that in the philippines you well see most cyclist ride mtb on roads specially the young ones its because mtb is much cheaper compare than rb's.
Mountain Bikes are Comfy and suitable for all Terrain. They are slower and usually heaver than specialized Road bikes though. And they usually offer less space for equipment, bottles etc than Gravel/Road/Trecking bikes. Overall this makes them less ideal for long rides, 40-50km is still alright though.
at first i was very against people using mountain bikes around here because its just roads, but after a while i realize that these things kinda last forever and are built for tough conditions. really nice ride quality when maintained. my only suggestion for people who only use MTB on the road is to switch to slick tires. trust me, it will feel even better and give you more grip.
If you have a mtb and like to ride on roads more than dirt invest on maaxis hookworms… Trust!
I constantly shop for used bikes in an n+1 spiral, but truthfully an XC bike is fine for everything I presently do.
Cuckold channel. You’re a Kamala voter!
What bike is that you’re on right there?
Gravel bikes have regressed to mountain bikes with drop bars. When I started riding I would do road rides on my mountain bike to build endurance. I eventually got a decent road bike. I rarely ride on the road anymore. It's so dangerous and most road riders are idiots and have given roadies a bad rep with drivers. I just don't understand. I guess they've never been hit by a car or run off the road like I have been.
For longrides like 130km per day?!!!
Uhhh…yeah. a bike is a bike…just ride.
Problem with modern 1x MTBs are speed on road. They often lack the high gear ratio to reach road biking speed.
