Last week I asked the question, how fast are professional cyclists compared to me up the mythical monsoon climb? But after having a crack, I actually managed to finish it only 15 minutes behind the man himself, Tatt Baga, albeit with no headwind, spectators, or 3 weeks of racing my legs. But it did make me wonder if I had a dig, could I do even better on the most legendary mountain of them all, outs to give context, upd is a 12 km climb, which averages 8%. And for most cyclists on Zift, it’s an amazing accomplishment just to finish it in under an hour. But for aliens like Ted, he can somehow teleport up it in 39 minutes while averaging 420 watts while only weighing 66 kilos. If I were to hold his wheel at 80 kg, I’d need to hold 510 W, which unfortunately wasn’t going to happen. But after deciding that even though I wasn’t going to be able to keep up, I had a crack and somehow managed to hold 336 W. I bounced to Zift. I crossed the line in 46 minutes and 15 seconds and only 7 minutes slower than Tatty Picata. So, no, I can’t keep up with the pros, but I’m actually pretty happy with that

  1. 7mins seems like a pretty small gap looking at the relative power (4,2W/kg vs ~6,3W/kg).
But still a good effort for an amateur cyclist.

  2. 340W for 45 minutes is decent for an 80kg amateur but not even remotely close to anything even the last place tour rider would put up. In a side by side real word ride you would probably be 35-40% slower than Tadej so about 15 minutes behind

  3. Sadly zwift isn’t that accurate. When I ride zone 2 Indoors, I ride at a speed of 40 km/h and outside it varies a lot. I ride like 24 to 30 km/h in zone 2 outside
