US is a shithole
Really go out of the way to say it was the car and not the driver.
> investigation revealed that a car, driven by Heckenlively, was traveling east on 56th Street when it rear-ended a cyclist going the same direction.
If you want to kill someone you’ll want to use a car for the job: practically zero penalties.
The way even the title and subheading is written is disgusting. No respect to the human he killed, making out like he was an innocent bystander or something.
Bets he’s back on the road before a year?
Note to self, if ever want to get away with murder with little to no consequences, do it in a car.
Fuck Nebraska
It’s like they say, a car is the best murder weapon!
And they wonder why we want physically protected lanes..
I’m honestly surprised it’s not a story featured on Law and Order: Person seeks revenge on lover/ business associate/ someone who wronged them earlier in life and they straight up run someone over with a car and they get off
Should be life in prison. I hate this country sometimes.
He’ll be out in 30 days with good behaviour!

That article doesn’t really give a lot of detail in regards to what happened.
>misdemeanor
>Homicide
Bro what?
Dissociative language matters. Car culture is such a dominant and defended value in our society that even a tragic accident can be sterilized and reduced to a mere misdemeanor.
