What are some other reasons to not become a data analyst?

#dataanalyst #dataengineer #datascientist #learntocode #swe #sql

three reasons you should not become a data analyst you don’t like building dashboards believe me if you become a data analyst a large chunk of your time will be dedicated to building reports and dashboards and if you do not enjoy building dashboards which a lot of people don’t do not become a data analyst number two salary yes data analysts make great money but it’s nowhere close to a more programming focused job such as data scientist data engineer software engineer yes data analysts are supposed to know SQL and some of them also supposed to know python but the compensation does not match the coding skills required if you’re curious you can watch a longer video on my YouTube number three you want to use data analyst career as a stepping stone to something else this is a common myth and unfortunately many people become a data analyst because they think that this is something that they need to do before becoming a data scientist why would you waste your time learning data analyst skills such as reporting and dashboarding that a data scientist doesn’t need to know when you can be using that time to learn data scientists focused skills such as statistics machine learning and more

  1. i tire of these videos "don't become a blah blah" look, i may need to make a video on this topic, because some people need to make money, support their income, or are in a situation where this is the way out and it does not matter if they don't like it, they need money, they will work through it, hell, data analyst is step 1 to the other 2 even if you not using all the data analyst skills. Similar bs to straight up hiring managers without understanding your workers jobs, i hate that so much…i'm done ranting, working on becoming a data analyst with a background in medical field.

  2. I’ve been floating with the idea of switching careers from HR to data analyst for 4 yrs and I’m just scared to be a beginner but now I’m more courageous and think I can use both skills. I like creating graphs on excel and giving insights, I also envy the salaries of data scientists.. yes, my thinking is using data analytics as a stepping stone if my interest deepens and shifts to data science/engineering

  3. I have seen DS who don't know do any work on excel. All they work is on python and sql. Never on any BI tool. And for DA job, you don't need to know heavy statistics only descriptive stats. And excel, sql, one bi tool. And basics of python maybe pandas, numpy. That's it. No ML or anything. Building models or predictive models is not the job of DA. Don't try to be Jack of All trade and master of none.

  4. Making UIs and tailoring interfaces for your client, cool I'm in.
I just need enough money to support my lifestyle (which is minimal) and I NEED to be able to work remote, so yeah, this works.
And this is literally all I wanna do. I have my nest egg set up, I just want a better living situation than working in the field in construction every day.

Sounds like I DO wanna be a data analyst, this was actually inspiring lol

  5. Data scientist is an other level of skills.
You need to be very good in mathematics, logic and in statistics. Machine learning as well.
