The price difference between a regular and electric P-line is $2,000. Considering it’s essentially a battery pack hanging off the front bar, that feels steep for such an clunky setup. For those who own an e-Brompton, could you share your experience? Thanks!

  1. I swytched my Brompton for around £450 with 2 of the small 90kw batteries they were selling them off and it was buy one battery get another free, I got it at that price by waiting 4 or 5 months. Just make sure you get the brompton specific pedal sensor.

  2. stock e-brompton handles like an ordinary one, but makes hills easy and less effort to maintain speed. Handles like an ordinary Brompton. Weight of the motor and battery probo makes it more stable if anything. It does take a second for the battery to kick in though. Weight isn’t much worse but it is a pain to wheel around when folded or in trolley mode due to the front wheel motor causing it to lean over, so rear rack with a extenders wheels are pretty much needed if you want to go to the supermarket with it unfortunately. Its also totally road legal too so no voiding the warranty.

That being said, I do prefer the setup you linked. Don’t need any special tools or modifications to fit it, and it won’t lean over when folded. It will probably void the warranty, so might want to keep the normal wheel to refit in the event you need to take it back to the shop.

  3. I have the Swytch and I’m the least handiest person on the planet. I complain when I chip my manicure lol but even then I was able to install the Swytch without a problem.
