
It still has the Halfords sticker on the frame. No idea how it made it across the pond. With an 8 speed IGH and roller brakes, it's virtually bombproof, and is ideal for bashing around the paddocks, or hitting the quiet local roads. I love this bike.
(It does need a new seat though, and maybe a better suspension seat post.)

I have always found that while the Carreras might not be high end, they are long lasting, seeing a 20 year old model in fully working condition is not uncommon.
Halfords also have the Apollo brand, that is just downright crap, fall apart in 6 weeks. Stay away from them.
I don’t know the thinking or design differences (other than Carrera are always alloy) but I wouldn’t shy away from recommending one.
