Jon H form RJH taking a student through the motions of a Mod 1 test with introductions to each exercise similar to what the Examiner will say on the day,
[Music] okay andy what i’d like you to do now is use all the space available okay and pull up into one of the bays marked by the four green cones is that okay yep in your own time okay so off you go to the shoulder checks before setting off staying away from those cones going to pull into the green bay he’s going to make sure the front of that front wheel is almost in line with the back two green cones definitely within it he’s now following the lock nest monster uh do you want to turn the engine off please secure the bike step off the bike so i say lock nest monster which is neutral engine off stand down step off okay thanks for that andy what i’d like you to do now your first exercise is a test of your manual handling what i’d like you to do is take the bike off it stand and push the bike backwards into that bay over there is that okay that’s right yeah whenever you’re ready so i’ve taught him to make sure the bike is off the stand and he does his shoulder checks before he starts pushing it no point doing the shoulder checks then taking off his stand let 3 seconds elapse and you end up with an outofdate shoulder check he’s looking where he wants to go watching that cone that’s a danger zone cone that one cuz he’s fought might hit it ending up with the back l plate almost in line with the back two green cones put the stand down didn’t double tap it he’s double tapping it now but he’s put the weight of the bike on it no faults no fails one tip double tap the stand before you put the weight of the bike on it okay your next exercise is a test of your slow riding and steering and what i’d like you to do is set off in between the first two yellow cones as the yellow line suggests on the diagram performing a uh slalom around all five yellow cones until you reach the two blue cones once you’ve reached the two blue cones i’d like you to perform a figure of eight around those blue cones need to do about two figure of eights but don’t worry if you lose count i’ll call you over is that okay yeah that’s fine in your own time so he’s got his front brake on as he’s getting on the bike stand up double tap engine on now no break for a split second there got to be careful always have a brake on shoulder checks before setting off and off we go doing about 5 6 miles an hour here 5 6 mph in near that yellow cone and then turn for the next yellow cone and then turn for the next yellow cone and turn for the next yellow cone you need to get near those yellow cones not too near obviously positive throttle into the figure of eight about 5 6 mph looking where you want to go turn the head turn the wheel extend your right arm for a tighter left turn in near that blue cone it’s a little bit off but not too bad good correction in be uh before the yellow cone don’t go around it if you do go around it it’s a rider fault but if you go past the halfway mark of the two yellow cones that is a fail going up near those blue cones uh of the hazard that’s a sort of marker you can use to see how high you can go in near that blue cone gives you plenty of space to go around in before the yellow cones looking where he wants to go turning the head turning the wheel extending the right arm to get a tighter left to turn positive throttle all the time and now eventually extending his left arm to get a tighter right [Music] turn okay andy do you want to come over here please he’s going to come to a stop and hopefully he’s going to pop it into neutral might use his front brake to stop which is a bit of a habit he’s got but at the end of the day it was under control so no worries at all okay thanks for that andy um what i’d like to do now is use all the space available and just end up come to a stop near those red cones facing that way so in between those red cones stopped facing that way okay whenever you’re ready so he does have a habit of putting his front brake on to start but at the end of the day he’s doing it under control so um that’s fine we advise you just use your back brake though because on the day you’re going to be nervous and you’re going to be clumsy and you might just use that front brake with a bit of a snatch these transitional exercises you can still pick up faults put it into neutral obviously ready for the explanation for the slow ride thanks for that no faults no fails on the slalom no faults no fails on that transitional exercise um what i’d like to do now is perform a slow ride as if in slow moving traffic i want you to ride set off ride slowly in a straight line coming to a stop near uh the blue cones okay that okay in your own time so the uh examiner is going to be walking behind the student about six paces behind if that gap gets too big then i’ll end up being a fault or even a fail coming to a stop near the blue cone so don’t stop in them little bit of a loss of control there so no faults no fails there’s a little bit of loss of control at the end he might pick you up on that one 50/50 on that um try and slow it down a little bit but not that much we stopped in the cones it’s not a problem however we advise you don’t cuz you take a space away from your u-turn now okay so u-turn exercise what i’d like you to do is perform a u-turn in between the two white lines coming to a stop at that white line over there or near that white line over there i’d like to remind you to treat it like a public highway is that okay whenever you’re ready so obviously he’s going to do his shoulder checks before setting off going to set off some slow riding skills five or six miles an hour shoulder check to the right head back nod turn the head turn the wheel not looking where he wants to go but he’s done it well and he stopped near the white line uh i advise not stopping anywhere near the white line about half a meter away from it cuz if you think if you go stop near the white line you have to think about the questions of whether you can put your foot on it your foot over it your wheel on it or your wheel over it well if you just stay half uh a meter away from the white line you don’t have to worry about those questions uh no folks no fails one tip uh when you’re turning you’re looking where you want to go but it’s kind of looking down kind of look up like that look up okay your next exercise is a control stop what i’d like you to do is set off follow the red line as the diagram suggests reaching a speed of 19 mph about 30 km an hour in the circuit ride you then exit the circuit ride maintain that speed and then at the yellow cones i’d like you to start to slow the vehicle down so you end up coming to a stop with your front wheel uh within the areas marked by the four blue cones is that okay whenever you’re ready okay so on the control stop he’s going to go up following the red line of the diagram reaching a speed of about 20 mph um nothing more than that otherwise you won’t be able to keep control of it as he exits the circuit ride he’s got a choice he can maintain it at 20 mph or he can increase the speed to about 32 mph to see what it feels like he’s maintaining it at 20 which is absolutely fine onto the front brake pull the clutch in with about 2 or 3 m to go and he’s elected to finish off on his both brakes fantastic yeah slap bang in the middle perfect okay okay what i’d like to do now is use all the space available and just come to a stop over there so i can introduce you next exercise so this transitional exercise means he’s just got to turn round doesn’t have to do a u-turn he’s elected to do a u-turn for a bit of practice which is fair enough but you don’t have to you can go over the white lines no problem at all still using his front brake but it’s under control so there’s no problem okay your next exercise is a test of your emergency braking what i’d like you to do is set a follow the red line as the diagram suggests reaching a speed of 19 mph 30 km an hour as you exit the circuit ride you need to increase your speed to a minimum speed of 50 km an hour about 32 mph as you pass through the yellow cones where the speed measuring device is my hand will go up something like this you need to stop as quickly and as safely as possible under full control is that okay whenever you’re ready okay so shoulder checks and off he goes reaching that speed of about 20 odd miles an hour in the circuit ride um the examiner will put his hand up between the yellow and the red cones uh only start your stopping um when you see the hand go up to stop the bike is accelerator off front and back brake squeeze squeeze squeeze clutch in at the last minute okay good emergency stop the examiner will be standing down near the blue cones what you mustn’t do is go and meet him just stay where you are and he’ll come and meet you thanks for that your next exercise is going to be a hazard avoidance but before that could ask you to use all the space available go down there turn round and end up near that white line [Music] once again using his front brake to stop no faults no fails on the emergency stop well done um just a tip try not to use your front brake when uh coming to a stop at these slow speeds okay your final exercise is a test of your hazard avoidance what i’d like you to do is set up and do a circuit ride following the green line on the diagram uh at a speed of about 19 mph 30 km an hour in the circuit ride but as you exit the circuit ride i want you to increase that speed to a minimum speed of 50 km an hour which is about 32 mph by the time you reach the yellow cones where the speed measuring device is at that point what i’d like you to do is swerve out in between the two blue cones and swerve back in come to a stop near these blue cones is that okay okay whenever you’re ready okay so shoulder checks before setting off obviously and off he goes all of this is in second gear all your high speed maneuvers are in second gear um and this hazard avoidance he’s going to get to that speed of 32 mph about 50 km an hour and at the yellow cones he’s going to come off the throttle swerve out swerve back in no brakes in the swerve no front brake no back brake no clutch in no gear change nice swerve get onto those brakes coming to a stop and stop near the blue cones doesn’t have to be exact but that’s perfect no faults no fails okay that was your final exercise andy okay so uh i’m just going to go to the gate i’d like you to ride up to the gate and meet me there and this is the bit where you must remember to do your shoulder checks before setting off and this is the point where i would say to the student or the examiner say to the student i’m going to open the gate now andy what i’d like you to do is go and park up uh in one of the bays uh secure your bike engine off secure your bike and come and join me in the office for a debrief is that okay cool what we’re going to do is not do that cuz we’re going to carry on doing this is that all right of course leaving the gate if the gate was opened you must do your shoulder checks before setting off happy with that happy with that fantastic well done uh maneuver your bike and um put it near this white line facing that way

Great video 😊so much information
Mine coming soon and im popping myself
I’ve been told by several instructors that you can go past the yellow cone on the figure of 8 with no penalty?
Can i do test with 125cc bike ? For A Module 1 test ?.
Didn't he miss his obs after the ES?
Got mine today thanks for the information
Got mine booked for september. Crapping myself a bit!
Doesnt mention but for faster manoeuvres (emergency stop and avoidance) donyou need to shift down to first before stopping
Brilliant video, I’m doing mine in the near future.
