Yesterday. The structure is dead. Worst case is, that the tire pops on a downhill run and you learn to fly. Replace it for your own safety.

Something has damaged the casing, the stiff fibers that hold the tire together. There is now just rubber at that spot and the pressure inside is trying to make it’s way to the outside. Don’t ride, replace immediately.

The carcass has been compromised, unless you really really like your dentist, or physician, I would highly suggest getting it replaced.

I’ve had a friend describe that type of issue as a deep bruise. An impact happened that damaged something deeper in the tire without rupturing the tread.
