    Depends on your needs!

For me I would pick the longer one, that upright position for me makes it harder to climb, and accelerate. I like to be a little more tilted toward the horizontal.

Yea I’ll second using the taller second stem. You’ll enjoy that more and it will make the bike ride quite well—and aesthetically it’s the preferred look atmo.

The short one IMO if you’re going for looks, but go with the most comfortable one

First one will probably feel better. Second one will be reallyyy upright riding position.

If you’re using bar end shifters the first one for sure. Your thighs can thank me later

  6. The second one has less reach, so it should allow you to go lower without stretching your arms too much.

Try it with a little less stack height and see which one is more comfy to you. I prefer the look of the forged aluminium stem vs the welded steel one. Looks more like a road bike and if you reduce the stack height it will be more sporty, more aero than the long reach MTB stem. But then there may be some preferring the look of a steel stem from the 90ies MTB era.

ultimately this is 99% ergonomics and your decision. These stems have bnoth very distinctly different ergonomics option, so unless you try and ride them, you cannot make a good decision on which one to use.

Connect a front brake, tie the derailleur to a middle gear with some wire and go for some test rides!
