@daniel_wilkinson I am not really hurt. I have an abrasion on my left wrist from where it dragged on the B pillar – I had to look at the video to figure it out. The driver did stop and we exchanged information. I am in communication to resolve it. This is a 360 video taken with an Insta360 so you’re seeing just a fraction of what happened. On the left is a city bus that is what probably honked its horn because I work at the facility where it is maintained and the driver knows who I am. The bike is not really that bad off… the front fork is messed up but that’s it. The wheel is still straight, the pedals are all good, and the frame is solid steel – not aluminum.

  1. Anything on two wheels is literally invisible to anyone that operates more than…car drivers are hopelessly inattentive, they're distracted by everything in their vehicles, (music, phones, children, pets, etc etc), then blame others for their idiocy! 🤷🏻‍♂️

  2. They’re looking right into the sun as well.

This idiot believes right of way also means free from any injury. Don’t ever assume a car will stop

  3. I tell my kids when they are on a bike or scooter to use the sidewalk and go by people slowly and respectfully if they are walking on it. Of any grownup has a problem with it then they can call me and have a conversation about it.

  4. Judging by how big the shadows are the driver was probably sun blind….and you probably dont have a headlight ( exactly why all bikes have running lights)

  5. Ya, the car might be at fault, but the bike still got hit, and he didn't need to. If the biker lets himself get hit by a car too often, thinking who's at fault, he will be dead soon. Ride in the center of the lane, not on the shoulder.

  6. i've been hit 3 times on an electric longboard as a pedestrian on the sidewalk, and someone legitimately once tried to KILL me in a pickup truck for riding in a bike lane, you gotta be careful and assume no one's paying attention

  7. You had the sun at your back as you can tell by the shadow pointed at the car in question. I am amazed that the driver saw the light change.

  8. Why does everyone seem to think that it was the car that hit the bike that blew the horn? It's obvious that driver never saw the bike due to the sun. That was a friendly double tap of the horn. Y'all know goodness well that if a driver is about to hit something they gonna lay on the horn, not double tap it 😂😂 Somebody saw somebody they knew on the road and was speaking, or something like that. And why did it sound like a bowling alley right after the collision? Y'all not hear that strike? 😭😭😭

  9. By the angle of the suns shadow you were almost directly in that cars sun spot. From the car that got you It's very hard to look into the suns rays to spot something like a cyclist directly below the suns rays.
I am an avid cyclist but have also been in this situation where i nearly drove/ ran over a cyclist due to sun strike.
I think cyclist's need to be aware cars are looking our for other cars and as other cyclist have said think like your invisible all the time.
