Im working on an older mtb i picked up. The crank was messed up and full of glue. Turnes our i think they shortened the space where the bb goes and it makes it 65-66mm wide instead of the more commo 68-73. It was fitted with a fc-m770/771-k but i cant use that anymore. What would be a good replacement because i had a normal mtb crank laying around but it was way too big(fc-m5100-1)
Ive had many setbacks with this build and this one happend right at the end. Hope someone has any ideas. Thanks in advance

Looks Like a 68mm BSA bracket wolle still fit. If in doing you can try to find a spacer in the hardwarestore, but i bet it would fit either way
Those painted BB cups look kinda sus. Are you sure it’s not stolen?

Any hollowtech bsa bb will do, but you might need to a 2mm spacer outside, look up “Shimano BSA Spacer Hollowtech II”.
First this BB comes with 3 spacers, all of them are missing. Then you probably need another two spacers to get to 68mm. A square taper BB also would be no problem here, since those cups and internal threads are even longer and often made of steel, not aluminium like a HT2. I’d probably put a single spacer on the drive side with a square taper and then screw in the left side snug.
