Hello,
My new bike (WTP Justice) came with Talon brakes which are supposed to be very good as I understand are the same as on the Envy.
Today after riding it 20 min yesterday, I’m moving the bike inside the house and I touch the brakes lightly and the cable comes off where you attach them to the lever. I put them back, I try again and they come off. I check the levers and one of them is not returning properly to position , I inspect further and the spring is not in the socket of the tension adjustment nut.
1) is this normal for the spring to come out like this ? I just rode the bike nothing extreme
2) the levers touch between them , is this normal ?
I’m not even sure this is installed properly ?
Any help for this newbie will be welcome !

When you say lever do you mean the part of the u-brake (first picture) and not the hand lever, is that correct? If it is, you need a bit more tension on the cable, you can do this by adjusting the barrel adjusted where the cable and the sleeve of the cable separate, it’s on the frame, it looks like a screw with the wire of the cable going threw it, adjust it and it should give you more tension preventing the cable from coming loose.
If not, let me know and I’ll help.
EDIT: As other redditor posted, I meant the U brakes when I say lever.
All u brakes can only fit together in one way. They couldn’t be fitted to the bike incorrectly really. Seems just a case that the brake wasn’t set up and tightened down, did you assemble the bike yourself out the box or was it bought from a shop?
Sounds like someone overlooked proper setup on the u-brake. Look up some youtube videos about setup and spring tension on those. Its not too hard but takes a bit of patience at first.
Honestly, it looks the spring isnt even in there
I’m just jealous of all that clearance between the tire and the brakes, wth.
I have eclat unit brakes and they are awesome, they have a slightly different arm shape though, favorite brakes i ever owned, they say only for rear or id get them for my front brakes also
