This could be the answer to people wanting to go bikepacking on an ebike
What up party people? Another day, another ebike review. Today we have the Syrussia Voyage trekking bike. What do you get for your money? 700 C wheels, disc brakes, which are hydraulic disc brakes, 160 mil, 250 watt Buffang motor again, 160 mil on the back, hydraulic disc brakes, a 10-speed Shimano Tiagra, is it Tiagra? Thiagra gear set, which is pretty damn good. Mountain bike style handlebars, trigger and thumb gear changer, LED light, which works, an adjustable headstock, which is great. Built-in computer, air suspension at the front, which works a treat, is lockable and refillable. Quick release wheels, hard tail back, rack front and rear. Nice, easy to read display at the front. I’ll come on to that in a bit because it’s not all positive. The best thing about this 25 kg. You have a look at some of the fat tire bikes and that I review. They’re getting close to 40 kg. Some of them even over that. Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. I’m going to bring you in, take you around for a closer look to see what you get. First impressions though, the fit and finish of this bike as I was putting it together is brilliant. It is a really, really well-made bike. The paintwork, the welding, everything about it is great. The battery, should have told you about the battery really, shouldn’t I? That is a 36V 14 amp hour battery. Gives you 70 mi of range or so they claim. I’m doing about 2530 mi. I’m a little bit lost at the moment, so it could be more than that today. I’ll let you know how much battery I’ve got at the end. It is a torque sensor which means the more power you put in the more power it gives you. 50 Newton meters of climbing or torque when climbing which is also good. Side stand obviously metal pedals all spiky like loving it. Loving it. I think you get that 15 kilo on the front 25 on the back. That does actually say there 25 kilo and that doesn’t. I’ll give it 15. Have a look. First SI rusher bike I’ve tried and so far I’m liking it. I’ll bring you in for a closer look. I’ll show you the ride footage. Then I’ll bring you back for my final thoughts. So, as you can see there, you got your 700C wheels. You’ve got your front rack, your nice big wide mountain bike style handlebars. Here’s the little computer. I’ll just turn that on. It is bright sunlight. The computer’s probably not going to show up on my camera. Everything’s on there. One button to go up and down your power assist. The only trouble with that is you can’t go up and down. You got to go up right the way to the end and then it starts at zero again. Um, triple tap it to get into the menu settings. Don’t worry about that. There’s a little pill thing there. I could have peeled off. Look, put that in your pocket. Anyway, fit and finish. As you can see, it is a really wellfinished bike. Non-slippy seat. There’s your rear light, which is just a light. It’s not a brake light. Shimano Thiagra 10speed gear set. More brakes. You’re going to get all shadow now. Pedals. Great little spiky metal pedals. battery stored underneath which is lockable. Lockable battery. There’s your suspension. Lovely job. Front rack again. So, as normal, we will see what this thing rides like as a bike. No power assist. Seating position is comfortable. Pedals are far enough forward to get full of leg extension. Let’s go through these gears. Gear shift is quick. Yeah, it’s like riding any standard decent RTEL Trek ending stroke mountain bike. Smooth as you like. I don’t know how the seat’s going to fair as I go on because as I might have mentioned, I’m not a fan of bike seats. Nice upright position. Quite a lot of wind, so sorry if there’s noise. Let’s get some speed up. It’s got a 10speed um gear set, so to go over and above your your normal speed should be absolutely fine. Nice wide handlebars, mountain bike sty, not bad at all to be honest. You would have absolutely zero problems riding this home should the battery die. if you like cycling. I would still be moaning. So, we’re coming up the first 10% hill. I’m in 10th gear. I’ve cracked it straight up to pedal assist 5. It’s just trying to get down under that 15 1/2 mph to get the pedal assist. So, let’s see if we need to change down many gears just to see how powerful this meta motor is. It’s meant to dish out 50 Newton meters of torque. So, I’ll slow down a little bit. And there’s that motor. I’m definitely putting in some effort, but as I say, I’m in 10th gear. Let’s crank down a few. [Applause] It is definitely a trekking bike. more a cycling bike than the big fat tires where you just put your foot down and you go, but it’s certainly not hard work. I’d be puffing normally going up there. Not the easiest I’ve gone up there by not by a long way, but that’s not what this bike’s about. Right, let’s see how it handles a bit of speed. [Applause] That motor does shut itself off immediately at 15 and a half [Applause] 32 32 mph. Not a problem. comfy. I mean, obviously you do feel the bumps a little bit more with it being a hard towel on 700 C wheels. Just when you start climbing again and you’re way over the 15 and a half, your legs can feel it. [Applause] I think I’m in seventh gear at the moment. about a 7 10% hill pulling me up there no problem. The adjustable handlebars means you can sit up, sit forward, however you like. Yeah, fit and finish is brilliant. I got to say it’s a uh a very quiet bike to ride, which is good. It would be. It’s got nice thin tires, 700c wheels as I’ve probably mentioned before, and pedals are holding me feet great. We’re just about to start a little bit of uh bumpy track and a couple of kissing gates, so we see how it handles with that. But the upgraded gear set to most bikes is a proper welcome bonus. Having a one and 10 or one to 10, whatever it’s bleeding called, one up the front, 10 at the back is Yeah, it’s good. And as I say, straight out of the box, no fiddling with me. The gears have been absolutely fine. Now, because it is quite a big long bike, absolutely no problem. Instant power. You can hear the motor. That’s more down to the fact that I haven’t got big fat tires making more noise than the motor itself. The power delivery seems fine. Nothing that jars you back. It’s just a hint. Put the effort in. It gives you that little bit more. It’s not rocket material by any stretch of the imagination. Completely different riding experience to the fat tire bikes that you normally see me on. And I’m not going to say an unpleasant one. It’s doing what it’s meant. It’s a tracking bike. Load up with your kit. You’re away. Nice. Apparently good for 70 mi of range. We’ll find that out. I’m only doing about 2530 today, which is long enough for most people. And I’ll tell you what batteries batteries battery I have left at the end of it. As I said previously, it’s very easy to go over that 15 12 mph and be putting all the work in yourself on the flats, which is a good thing and it’s definitely going to save battery. So, here we are then on our first little bit of a grally, bumpy cycle track. Gets a lot worse later on. Had a bit of rain. Hopefully the mud guards will do their job. Not looking too boggy to be honest. Got to say the air suspension up the front. Absolutely adequate. And at the moment I’ve not hit anything too rough, but it’s not too jarring even though it’s a hard to tell. I’ll do my usual. Absolutely no problem. The tires look good. As I say, the ergonomics are fine. Feet are in the right position. They’re being held absolutely great. I have raised the handlebar back quite a bit to get me more upright. I’ve got more room to do so. And to be honest, I should have possibly raised it just a little bit more. I am leaning forward on the palms of my hands. I’ve got a short trunk. You know what I mean? I’m a long-legged migot. Really, right? That power’s instant. I will give you one negative straight from the off. There’s no bell. Little bit weird. No bell, no horn, one button that controls everything on the computer. I haven’t read any booklets, anything like that. I figured it out. And I’m not exactly brain of Britain. Anyone under the age of 40 will now be looking at the screen going, “What the hell’s a brain of Britain?” Deal with it. I’m old. Right. Let’s test out the brakes. 15 12 mph and anchor on. Stopped me absolutely fine. They’re not bedded in. They would get better. Didn’t chuck me over the handlebars. Lovely job. So, now we are entering the Rooty Ruty cycle path, which is normally a monkey stump destroyer. Wonder if Jack’s at work. Um, so yeah, if the rear suspension is a problem, this is where I’m going to see it. It don’t look like much on the camera, but it is a very bumpy up and down track. Let’s see if I can hit a couple of these holes. [Applause] That’s a big one. Not too bad at all. Oh yes, there’s a load down here. Right, let’s go. [Applause] Really not an issue. So I am six or seven miles in and I nearly just got dumped on by that bird. But monkey stump is feeling okay at the moment. Hate bike seats. It is a bike seat. It would definitely benefit from a suspension seat post or a like or a big gel saddle or whatever you like. I can tell this is going to be a positive review of this bike. So, while it’s in me head cuz I’ve noticed a couple of things that would make it a better experience. Nothing that actually detracts from the ride or anything like that, but the computer you have the information in front of you. So, you have your assist level, your speed, how much how far you’ve traveled, battery, and overall adometer. So, you got your trip and your overall. But as you can see, I’m a man of a certain age. Me eyes ain’t the freshest. For me to see the odometer is very, very, very small writing. It’s not really going to matter to you. You know, you’re going from point A to point B. You know how far you’re going to get. Everything else is pretty readable. the fact there’s no bell I’ve already mentioned and the bike seat which is a very very personal thing to me. Everything else I mean is a real dodle to ride. The weight of it is brilliant. I I’m impressed. I am impressed certainly as it’s a normal sort of bike. passing on your right. Could have done with a bell there. Um, yeah, I’m not hating it, but we will see our biffings bridges in another 20 miles. So, we’re coming into town now. We’re going to have some shared footpaths with pedestrians. It is a very inoffensive looking bike. It’s not a Oh, you bugger. It’s not fat tire, not aggressive, not loud. Just looks like a bike. Just wait for these lights to change. See if we get any dirty looks running through town, which we shouldn’t. And we’re away. Instant power. As I say though, the power isn’t overwhelming at all. Very gentle, very progressive. Not in a vegan hipster way, in the way it’s meant to be said. It progresses slowly. Lovely job. Look at that. Is this bus going to kill me? Let’s hope not. It’s an absolute dream to ride to be honest with you. So if you’re a cyclist, not a deliveroo rider, other delivery firms are available and you just want something to actually enjoy cycling but take the pain out of hills. Awesome. If you’re a bike packer that likes to stop places where you can charge up, we’ll see how much battery is left with a range of 70 miles. That’s some nice trips. You know, 30 mile each way, giving you a bit of a buffer. Lovely job. [Applause] So, here we go for the next eight miles. It’s bumpy, grally, possibly muddy. The 700c wheel shouldn’t really have an issue with it. Obviously, I’ve got more of a skid risk than normal on the fat tires, but it ain’t a fat tire bike. I’d probably carry a bit more speed through here than normal as well. It’s It’s Yeah, effortless. So, with it being bumpy and grally for the next eight miles, this going to be a real test to see just how intrusive this seat is. It might have to buy me dinner afterwards. It’s very easy to regulate your speed on this as well. This is what I like about torque sensors. As I say, always say on every single vid, the uh cadence sensors, you’re basically set to the speed limits per level. With a torque sensor, it’s all down with how much effort you’re putting in. [Applause] So, you completely and utterly set the speed yourself. Zero issue. The gears on this, I can’t see. I’ll tell you at the start what they are, but it’s the old trigger and thumb shifter up and down. When I installed it, it looked weird. It didn’t look right, but it works a treat. There’s a chance I’ve put them on wrong. As I say, I’ll never look at instructions. Very easy to put together out of the box. Um, I did think there was a bit missing. I found it in my pocket. So, Yeah, make of that as you will. So then putting this together out of the box, the first thing I noticed, and I’m really not trying to make this sound like a sales pitch. Take it for what it is. These are my impressions. The quality on this thing, they’re using high quality components. Absolutely brilliant. the fact that you actually get like proper mountain bike handlebars that come just as a bar. You then put on your grips, your uh brake levers and your gears, etc., etc. As a lot of you will know, most bikes that come over from the EU and China have the brake levers asked about face. One, these look like they’re meant to go the way I’ve got them. And two, it don’t matter if they don’t. They fit the other way anyway. So, you’re completely in control from the off. I like that. I like that a lot. And it was a dodle. Um, back wheel was on. It’s just front wheel, mud guard, handlebars, pedals, and you’re away. Wait. And unlike a few of the others I have, even though that it’s it’s not meant for stuff to put it together, the actual installation of these components, everything is accessible, which again is good. Another bumpy and ruddy thing. I might see if I can get some air in a minute. Not for me tires. I mean like Michael Jordan. No problem there. As I say, air suspension up the front, so you can pump that up if you like. Lockable front suspension as well for when you’re climbing hills. You’re not wasting that energy. The only problem is keeping it under 15 12 miles an hour. Standing up, no issue. pedaling, standing up, no issue. It’s a well thoughtout bike. 12 miles in currently. As you can see, another pothole road. And I’ve got to say, my balloon knot is okay. Oh, sneeze. I could have died. Um, yeah, my blue knots’s all right. Gravity under wheel. Don’t feel as slippy at all. Just cruising along. I have no idea where I’m going. Passing on your right. Thank you. Where are you off to? I have no idea. I’ve got the diversion. I’m lost. For all people that aren’t my regular viewers, just a little bit of background about this. As you can tell by my shape physique, I’m not a sort of reviewer really. I do the reviews. And with these reviews, it enables me to do charity moped rides over on my other channel, Step Away from the Screens. So, I don’t know where I’m going. So, by watching them and having more of these bikes sent through, you are helping out a veterans mental health charity because when I vlog these bikes, I buy mopeds and go on stupid little adventures. They’re not stupid, they’re fun. So, yeah. But give us a thumbs up if you are interested. Obviously buying from the link, I do get a kickback. I don’t know how much. Oh, this is bumpy. Probably bumpy, I tell thee. But the bike’s handling it well. Just something to bear in mind. Step away from the screens for all your uh fat tonged spoofer needs. Oh, is this even a path? It is at the moment. It’s where this farmer comes out and tells me to get off his land. One thing I will say about this bike, and you can take it as a positive, negative, whatever you like. I was expecting it to have more power. I’m not saying it hasn’t got enough power. I’m saying I was expecting it to have more. Sushia do a few of their bikes that are beasts, hill climbers, fast as you like. So, I thought coming up to a hill in 10th gear that this would be an absolute doggle and it got me up there. If you’re using your gears, there is no problem in climbing hills with this thing. That’s not what I’m saying. But I was expecting it to be a little bit more out the gates. And I don’t think it’s a bad thing. You just got to look at what sort of bike it is. And as the name suggests, the Voyage and the fact it is a trekking bike. It’s absolutely fit for purpose with the racks front and rear. Absolutely fine for commuting. And to be fair, this is rough old stuff. It’s not mountain bike stuff, but it is a rough old route. So if you was doing stuff like the King Alfred’s way, absolutely fine. [Applause] Did you get my chop wobble then? See, I’m actually being a bit unfair to this bike now. Up top, down, bottom. What? proper put it through its paces. The fact that this bike is still powering me through this stuff and it was a damn sight worse where I went earlier is testament to it because Oh, don’t punch up. It definitely weren’t designed for this. This bike truly is getting a proper workout. I’m not I’m not even breathing hard. But yeah, fair play to it. I would have zero issues doing something like the King Alfred’s way on this. I really wouldn’t. Or bike packing. I’d probably even say that I’ll be happy to take it into the woods. Obviously, not going to be as good as a fat tire bike, but it’s a capable machine. [Applause] And we’re back on a trail. See, when it’s like this, cycling can actually be fun. As a determined non-cyclist, this ain’t too bad. Rolling hills of the countryside, no traffic. Let’s see if this will kill me. No, it won’t. Oh, yeah. That entered me. But either way, I’m happy. Even though my camera’s going for a Burton, for some reason, my clamps are not clamping on this bike, and I don’t know why. Perhaps it’s time for new clamps. Oh, concentrate on what you’re doing, Lee. Unless I’m dying. Well, at least the bike’s light. He says, Right. I made it back to the cycle path. Added at least five miles to my journey. Still not that good, even though I had to carry the bike over a couple of styles. and took it places it really shouldn’t have gone. Everyone’s a winner. Fair play to the bike. One thing I’ve only just noticed as well, which is a good little feature underneath your speed, you get a little bar, like a graphic equalizer type thing that tells you how much energy the motor’s kicking out. So like now when I’m over 15 and a half, nothing. If I drop down and go to 13 and a half, putting little pressure on, boom, it goes straight up. So you could gauge battery usage on that as well. I’ve had this in pedal assist 5 the whole way and I’m just gauging it with my legs how fast, slow I want to go. So, bear that in mind when I give you my final distance for the day and battery. All right. So, here we go up a short but really steep hill. I’m having to use the gears. [Music] It’s getting me up there. I’m putting in a lot of the work. I’m down to 40% battery though, so I don’t know if that’s having a uh effect. still got me up there nicely. Although it’s short, it is really steep. So, we’re on another big steep hill now. And it’s definitely a pedal assist motor. You really have got to put the work in. It looks like the more the battery runs down, the more effort you are putting in. It’s only what my legs are feeling at the moment, but I was in second gear. Yes, it’s a steep hill, but I was still putting in a reasonable amount of effort there. Could be wrong. Could just be that all the effort I’ve put in elsewhere has knocking me out a bit. I don’t think so. I don’t feel tired. I definitely felt that one. But it’s the same with all torque sensors. It’s just this gives you not as much grunt as the other ones I’m used to. But there it’s still carrying me up now and I’m in about seventh gear. Much shallower hill. So just be mindful depending on your experience with ebikes. Not all ebikes are the same. A lot of the ones, certainly the cheaper ones, they give you all of the grunt and it is a very, very, very effortless ride. This still takes out 70% of the issues with hills, but it does mean that you’re doing 30% of the work as opposed to 5% of the work, which isn’t a bad thing. You’re still getting your exercise. You’re still getting out doing stuff that you wouldn’t normally do if you’re 200 lb plus and not very fit like myself. I mean, I’m over 25 miles in today. You ask me to cycle 25 miles on a normal bike and I will invent new swear words to tell you no. Just look at my King Alfred’s way video. I didn’t enjoy that. But again, with the ebike laws, this poor sod behind me. I’m at my speed limit now. He is stuck. If I was doing 28, he would still be stuck, but he would be a lot less annoyed, willing to take chances overtaking me. Not that he is, he seems all right. But it does sort of invite it. UK, sort your ebike laws out. I’m going to keep mentioning it every single video until someone bleeding listens. Last big long steep hill of the day. Um, it’s going to get me up absolutely fine. Nearly 30 mi. Will be 30 mi by the time I get home. And I wouldn’t want to do much more than 30 miles on this seat. Um, in keeping with the rest of the bike, it is a bike seat. It’s not a comfy thing at all. Again, my own opinion. Even the comfy ones I don’t like. Instruments of torture. The lot of them. Is my mic still on? Yeah. But it’s carrying me up here. Not a problem. Work through me. Gears. So, I am down to bearing in mind I’m using a lot of power at the moment. It’s showing 20% battery left after 30 miles. [Music] So that’s power assist five the whole way through some rough stuff. Plenty of hills carrying a fat bloke. But you can see the speed I’m going now. I’m getting pedal assist. But I am putting in quite a bit of the work. So, it looks like it does decrease as the uh power goes down. That’s what I’m thinking. Still a very impressive bike though. Built for those that like cycling. Is one of the toughest I’ve come up this hill though. It’s got to be said. It really has got to be said. It’s surprising what little assistance it is actually giving me compared to the others I’ve tried. I say I’m in second gear at the moment. It’s not that steep a hill and it don’t feel much different than cycling a normal bike. First time I’ve almost been out of breath on an ebike review. That can’t be true. Now we’re on the flat. Yeah, it’s picked up again. Anyway, overall really can’t complain. Ergonomics, comfort, power delivery until the end bit has been fine. brakes, components, fit and finish. Brilliant. Have a look on their website. Don’t have a look on the website. Use my link. Don’t use my link. Try to be as honest as I can on these reviews. I’m not here to sell you anything. I’m here to tell you how a nearly 50-year-old out of shape fat bloke finds a bike. Cuz there’s a lot more of me out there than there are these racing snakes. And there’s a lot more bullshitters out there than there are people that tell the truth. Bear it in mind. Certainly when you’re looking at reviews, bear it in mind. I’ll see you back to slightly less tired, me talking to a camera in a field. So, my final thoughts on this bike, I have been impressed. Um, as you saw in the footage, if it come out okay because like an idiot, someone tried to polish the lens on his Insta 360. I’ve taken this place as it should not have been today because I got lost. It has lasted. It powered me through everything. I was expecting it to have a lot more oomph. It gives you the oomph you need. No more, no less. No complaints about the power. I was just expecting more. I’m probably used to the other types of ebikes I’ve been trying that are all grunt. But this is a trekking bike. The big wheels cruise along nice and silent. I haven’t been completely abused by the saddle, which is surprising because I don’t like bike seats and it is a standard bike seat, although fairly plush and it has got this grippy little stuff on there as well to stop you sliding around. Pedals hold your feet well. The gear set changes really, really well. There are negatives, as I may have mentioned in the film, doesn’t come with a bell. Don’t know why. You can buy a bell, not a problem at all. The writing on the adometer part of the um computer is very small. If you’re of a certain age, i.e. my age, it can be a little bit hard to read. But the fact that this is adjustable as well, so you can bring this back, bring it forward dependent on your body type is brilliant. The way that you have to put all of the hand grips, brakes, and everything on yourself means that you can configure it the way you want. No more brakes back to front. I was a little bit worried about this gear shifter. I may have even put it on back to front, but it’s working absolutely fine and it’s comfortable where it is. Mug guards do the job. Suspension’s fine. I really haven’t got a lot of negative to say about it. And the fact that it only comes in at 25 kilo, that’s a real bonus. If you like your bike packing or longd distance cycle trekking, commuting, a lot of road riding, this is ideal. It does handle rougher stuff. The wheels and tires are more than capable of doing it. As you may or may not have seen, yeah, you know, seat heights adjustable. I think it says the rider weight up to 350 lb. I know I’m a bit of a chunky monkey. I’m not quite up to £350. I’ve been impressed. Putting it together out of the box was a dodle. Charge time of 6 to8 hours from flat. Whatever that means to you. It doesn’t have a brake light. It does have a tail light. Are they metal? Metal mud guards. All in all, I’m liking the bike. Um, it says it’s got e- liner tires. I don’t know what that means. Look it up. I might have a liner in it to be puncher resistant. I’m surprised I’ve not got a puncher with all of the stabbish stuff I’ve ridden through today. So, the SCer 250 Wang motor voyage trekking bike does get a real thumbs up from me. There’s a wasp. Go away. Until next time. Terra.

Probably one of the best bikes yet. The background is awesome. Cheers
Legally you don't have to have a bell on a bicycle but legally a bicycle must have a bell when sold.
