Hi everyone!
After a recent gravel ride, I started noticing a clicking noise coming from the bottom bracket area while pedaling. It's a pretty distinct click that happens only when I'm putting pressure on the pedals — but here’s the weird part:
The clicking disappears if I take one hand off the hand

Saddle rails. Taking your hand off changes the weight distribution on the saddle and stops the clicking.
Double check this by pedaling out of the saddle, if the noise is gone, remove saddle, clean rails and seatpost clamp, apply a tiny bit of grease to both and see if the sound is gone.
My second guess would be pedal threads. Same deal, remove, wipe down, regrease.
i think it disappears when u take your hand off because you change the way you apply pressure, i had similar problem..
i can recommend you to try and locate the sound first, apply pressure on bars separately, try to clean saddle post and grease it a bit.. then i’d try to tighten every bolt with torgue to its specified nm., including chainring bolts, you can even take them out, clean and regrease them..
If you’re out of option and the clicking remains, you can try to (if you have the wrench🔧) tighten, or even take out and clean bottom bracket.. everybody will tell you its never the BB but for me the sound (similar to yours) was twice in a row from bracket.. cleaned, tightened and it was ight 🙂
ps. it was also on triban but rc520.. so the same bottom bracket i think
Following. My Marin also clicks similarly to this. Only when in 2/7 or above. My LBS played with cable tension a bit and eased it a little but didn’t solve it.
I had some issues with mine after a long ride in Ireland. Potentially the moisture. Potentially dirt.
After checking everything else I removed the crank and BB. Wiped everything down and regreased and put it together.
Also just check with your hands if the bearings are grinding. You should feel it if they aren’t smooth. I also tightened the crank to the sram spec when putting it back together which might have caused the noise for me as it is like 54nm which is super tight. On reassembly I put it at 50nm.
have you tried, you know, cleaning everything?
Mine does the same thing even when standing. I haven’t been able to figure it out yet. Please update if you figure it out! I’d like to see if it works for me as well.
