Hi guys, I installed a new bottom bracket on my raleigh. It's a cheapo from Amazon but I used one before and it worked fine. I had some playing my first install and couldn't get the non-drive side bolt to tighten down the crank. I placed a 2.5mm bottom bracket spacer (black ) on the drive side and tried again. Still had some wiggle. I didn't have a second bottom bracket spacer for the non drive side, so, I used a 1 inch washer on the spindle (purple) and the tightened things down. No more play at this time, but will this work in the long run?

yeah i had this problem on my old bike it lasted ages well it lasted longer than the rest of the bike actually lol 😂

“Why are there no good bike shops in my area?!”

  3. The lateral spacing is likely OK. My only worry would be the inner diameter of the washer not being a perfect fit then shifting around, potentially causing a creak.
