first of all have you heard about this cycl yeah I’m not a fan no no he’s the goat to people that don’t know he’s on his bike and he films other people in cars on their phone but usually the person is sat traffic lights so this is the guy to some people he’s the most hated man in Britain and they would love to bump into him for other people he is an hero doing absolutely good work for the UK streets making it safer my dad was killed by a drink driver when I was 19 i find crossing the road with my kid and the young special needs lad I work with quite scary when Cyclinger Mikey was 19 his father was riding a motorbike when he was killed by a drunk driver and this sent him down a rabbit hole we’re going to get into the full story him capturing celebrities and becoming one of the most hated men in the UK he did actually first work normal jobs as a rollerblade instructor and in it in 1998 Vaner moved to the UK from the Netherlands at age 26 to work in IT commuting by a bicycle from Kent to London he becomes aware of dangerous driving behaviors during his commute in 2006 he begins using a helmet camera to record dangerous driving after discussions of cycling forum highlighting the camera’s availability initially reporting offenses and then taking DVDs in person to police station visits reporting people in 2011 is when he begin to get some traction online he reaches a thousand subscribers on his YouTube channel having filming dangerous drivers for 5 years he notes the importance of growing his audience to document unsafe driving two years later online reporting systems simplify with the process of submitting footage to the police leading to an increase in vaner’s reporting activity claims to have hi buddy hi you all right sir oh I’m good thanks how are you yeah good thanks why do you think I’m filming you any idea i’m stationary i don’t no idea yeah it’s funny how you guys don’t want to admit it carry on carry on i’m ex-military brother i have honor integrity oh yeah you’re messaging away special forces i’m the youngstary brothers died for our country to do things right and help other people so pay attention to your driving sir what you do and say to other people judging them when I was following the correct protocols like you were messaging and the law do you have anything else to say no I tell it to the magistrate fine what have I done wrong you tell me no the wildest thing about this is people think he is just doing this for clout of course he posts it online but this guy is actually getting convictions in court he wants these people to be punished he’s not just filming it for a reaction to go viral on the internet and many times he’s documented the situations after whether people get prosecuted he follows up with everything that’s your challenge not problem challenge to overcome and help other people now I’m helping other people by stopping phone drivers like you i give up now as often times he was in affluent areas he began to capture celebrities november 2009 he films director Guy Richie using his mobile phone driving in Hide Park richie is actually prosecuted receiving six penalty points a fine and a six-month driving ban clear messages open oh dear hello my friend shalom i don’t think you should be using uh your text messages while you were driving i saw you doing it back there as well hold on a second let me move out the way [Applause] oh he doesn’t I guess he wants to give up he doesn’t want to talk anymore on his phone he was on his [Applause] phone he spoke about this situation after on an interview it’s the first proper celebrity I believe that he may have called he said he didn’t even know it was him it was just him doing his drivers he went on to capture thousands of people at least a couple times in the spot celebrities especially being in London it’s It’s a big one this isn’t it cuz I think when you filmed it you didn’t realize it was Guy Richie i had no idea at all i I must admit I have a very poor face for celebrities right so you did so you didn’t think “Oh that’s a famous film star.” But you probably would have still reported it would you yeah it would have been no different to me i I It’s It’s about the behavior not the person i don’t hate drivers you know i’m I’m after the behaviors so I’m going to change the behaviors coming in behind a driver who’s stationary over their right shoulder and filming them while they text why do you think that’s okay that’s a very fair question um basically I I think I agree very much with what Ed and Tessa said and that enforcement is the key and sadly traffic policing particularly is has seen terrible cuts in the UK summer 2020 he gained significant attention after broadcaster Jeremy Vine retweets a video of ban her on the bonnet of a silver Mercedes increasing his public profile this is when we really started to hear the name cycle Mikey another person was caught a year later in 2021 he filmed boxer Chris Eubank running a red light leading to Eubank’s prosecution this was one particularly went viral because Chris Eubank senior is a character himself but he wasn’t showing no mercy when it comes to celebrities even iconic boxers like Senior nice car mate thank you i hope you’re not using the phone i know but if you if I film you using it and you get six points did you read about Guy Richie i didn’t actually i read about David Beckham oh that was some other random person but I was the one who got Guy Richie not that I I didn’t even know who he was right are you famous i wouldn’t know who you are either americans can help you happy now yeah but you shouldn’t be holding it should you hi go away you shouldn’t be holding it should you i’m an officer hi you’re a police officer go should you be holding your phone you go no I’ll stay here april 2021 he records former footballer Frank Lampard holding a mobile phone and a hot drink while driving his 250,000 Mercedes G Wagon the case is dropped due to insufficient evidence after Frank Lampard hires lawyer Nick Freeman [Music] on his phone clearly talking and holding his phone and a coffee at the same time what a dipstick this guy was addicted to trying to capture people the same year he was involved in an incident near Regent Park where he accuses a celebrity talent agent of trying to bulldoze him with a Range Rover case goes to Southwick Crown Court in 2022 but the defendant is not convicted due to insufficient evidence he was then featured in a Guardian article discussing his motivations emphasizing his father’s death his father like I said earlier was killed by a drunk driver he is not a police officer he cannot pull someone over he might be able to stalk them coming out of a nightclub the nearest thing to it he sees is catching people on their phones or doing things they shouldn’t be while they’re driving and reporting it to the police to try and prevent situation and the need to address the 1,800 annual UK road deaths and 27,000 serious injuries he dislikes being called a vigilant and uses his 65,000 YouTube subscribers to promote road safety is what he claims in his first interview drivers have very little regard for cyclists in the UK so carrying cameras is a natural way to to change that and his GoPro also records potential perpetrators using their phones while driving what kind of reactions have you received a few people are apologetic some people ignore you but the majority of people get angry when you catch them out doing something wrong at this point Reddit shows mixed views with some praising his road safety efforts and others criticizing his confrontational style a driver caught by Van Herp admits to a 200lb fine and six points but acknowledges the public service some people he caught were saying he is doing the right thing there was many parodies and Tik Toks of him getting backlash but people said he’s a hero not a villain so what laugh my ass off like people getting mad that they got caught hear me out just don’t use your phone when you drive october 2023 he celebrates reaching a larger YouTube audience noting it amplifies a message to drivers and he was making money off this and making TV interviews but you are earning some money from it you’re a YouTuber does earn you some money so when you say when you say you don’t like doing it you can stop Mikey you get my I can but I feel the duty to do it i’m long past it now but my dad was killed by a drink driver in Zimbabwe just another ordinary person that happens to be infamous right now you know this is it’s not my hobby it’s not something I even like doing it’s an unpleasant civic duty that the main motivator for me is the fact that some motorists will treat cyclists very badly on the roads um secondly when you cross roads with my kids or the young special needs lad I look after but was cycler Mikey himself the perfect driver he ended up making a mistake april 2024 he mixed accidentally running a red light near Victoria station himself due to a misaligned traffic light he uploads footage accepts responsibility and invites reports to the police emphasizing the value of cameras for self-improvement a Daily Mail covers this highlighting his transparency afternoon everybody so this next bit of video you’re going to see me run a red light yeah it’s my mistake i hold my hands up i’m at fault there um essentially what happened is somebody spun around the traffic light for the cycle lane to my right and had it facing down this road and when that turned green I thought I had a green and I missed that the the other two traffic lights were were still red um I realized something was wrong when the scooter rider next to me revved his engine and then stopped so he obviously almost got caught too and they and they and and he and the other scooter rider behind me didn’t follow through and that’s probably the best use of video cameras I have over the years is that I can go back and look at when there’s been a point of conflict or something’s gone unexpectedly and I can find out what went wrong and changed my own writing as a result going into 2025 now he’s named as one of the top billions of 2024 by the Daily Mail alongside other controversial figures and entities due to his red light instant and polarizing reputation critics call him a peddling pest pulling up on people when at least expecting it another style of content you may see him do is drivers that pulled into the cycling lane he would stop them and stand in front of them blocking their way no matter how long it takes he would not let them through this sometimes caused an absolute scene most drivers would end up just reversing back into the traffic and these were giving him much more backlash of people claiming they’re doctors and they need to get through in certain events okay you know I’m going to put this to the police that’s fine you do i’m going to take a picture of you and I gotations about what we’re going to say while we wait yeah maybe you should have left home earlier we’re both We left do you know what time we left after dropping the water off and it’s way I’m not interested just go back look here’s another law breaker just like you you’re welcome to take a photo of you just because those complications are waiting to see us yeah yeah yeah yeah of course there’s always a sub story for people like you isn’t it well that’s right because we we’re not doctors we don’t help people we just stand in middle road like you help it’s all right calm down dear another one yeah oh dear oh dear what’s wrong with these people mate you don’t argue with him i mean jail from traffic remember what you do on the bikes yeah when you think about a driver that could possibly get away with being on their phone you think police themselves maybe in an emergency or an ambulance driver when I say this guy wasn’t holding back he wasn’t holding back he captured an ambulance driver and uploaded it of them on their phone also reporting them i do apologize anything to say to your boss no fair enough can’t do it man yeah I know especially being the train driver you are i know i was just showing my colleagues something wrong at the wrong time carry on mate i’ll go i’ll go once you’re once you’re ahead it’s safer for me thank you and that is officially the first ambulance driver I called if you can call it that across this career he’s reported over 2,000 drivers resulting in 2,500 penalty points and 150,000 in fines his work divides opinion supporters see him as a road safety hero he remains active in certain locations around London and has 117,000 YouTube subscribers in March 2025 he published a detailed blog post reflecting on 15 years of filming revealing his reported 2,500 drivers with a 90% conviction rate for cases pursued by police he emphasized the emotional toll of harassment and reaffirms his commitment that he’s not stopping this was a video he got a lot of backlash for on Tik Tok where he documented a court result of someone he caught driving with their phone he said court result pleaded guilty and doesn’t drive anymore six points you can see him just in the background there took a picture of me that’s all right nothing wrong with that poor dude he got um he plead he pleaded guilty to the phone offense he had already I think two by three points so six points um from some other offenses i don’t know what they were and um he didn’t make a plea for exceptional hardship and was disqualified for 6 months his fine if I remember fine costs and sir charge were £159 so going by means testing is obviously not on a big income at the moment on this post people’s making mad accusations abuse Natalie mentally and physically now she takes care of your two kids cuz you’re not fit to stop deleting and hiding the truth you’re a bad person Mike someone said “Didn’t you get caught beating your wife?” And someone else said “The amount of bad karma just waiting for you is mental.” Cycling Mikey did make a tweet saying “Who the hell makes this stuff up apart from her name everything else is untrue.” This guy still manages to upload on his YouTube channel daily he reached 100k subscribers a while ago is kind of stagnated but also this guy is a target now making it hard to film many people want to find him because he is hated so much when an account wants a quick video to go viral they post that he was hit by a car in May 2025 false reports were circulating on X claiming that Cycler Mikey was hit by cars twice in one week he clarifies these are untrue and instance involve another cyclist Ian whose crash footage was mistakenly linked to Cycling Mikey this guy literally must speak to the police every single day what is your opinion on Cycling Mikey and is he the most hated man in the UK let me know in the comments

  1. What doesn't track is that he goes out with a large camera strapped to his head and weaves in and out of traffic hyper fixating on tiny details in the windows of each car, confronts drivers in the middle of the road, delays traffic, causes an increase to pollution, start stop traffic and road disruption. None of this is safe in the slightest. Maybe he should just cycle round videoing cyclists endlessly running red lights instead.

  2. I saw this dude by Regence Park, London two years ago. Psycology says it all. He's simply a loser, and gains satisfaction from snitching. If his dad was killed by a drink driver, and he saw someone swigging alcohol in London (hypothetically) he wouldn't do anything to them if he knew he was in danger, like the true hero he portrays. If he knew he could record them and get away with it he most probably would.

He does this for his own little gain, he doesn't want to change anything on this planet, and now hes getting paid its even worse.

Look at the psychological aspects and you will see straight through this wimp.

  3. All of you people crying in the comments… This is a pretty serious problem in the UK. People just use their phones everywhere, and it's the equivalent (In terms of concentration) to drink driving. If they are using it in traffic then they are likely using it whilst speeding down a motorway. They should not be on the road.
    That's it! Stop crying people….

  4. Cant beleive the number of scummy drivers out there. On top of that, the number of them trying to bring this giy down in comments. Everyone of them is part of the issue.

I might start doing this from now on. Can't stand irresponsible driver's.

  5. Mikey is clearly untouchable. No one would dare put their hands on him. look how many people he's violated to their face and yet not one person would dare put their hands on him. He's actually a G and knows it 😂

  6. How can you be mad at someone when you’re in the wrong. If you're shottin drugs & get grassed up don't be mad at the grass be mad at yourself. It's called accountability

  7. he a clown the people he catches at lights are hardly doing anything people be racing on the north circler doing ballon's while driving he's not saving no one

  8. So his dad was killed by a drunk driver so he films dangerous drivers…. But Literally everyone he filmed was stationary… his dad wasn’t killed by a stationary car🤦‍♂️ nor was he killed by a distracted driving

  9. Fact is most people are addicted to their phones – when in control of a deadly weapon 🚘 it’s better for everyone else if you are not distracted, even by 1% while doing it!

  10. Whatever you think of him, obey the rules of the road, and you have nothing to worry about. If you cannot drive without messing around with a mobile device, you are the one with the problem.
