Originally built up for GF who was just getting into cycling. She’s well and truly sold on it now and wants a more aggressive riding position.
She likes the idea of drop bars, but I’m not sure if they’d work here?
Any suggestions on how to get this rig a little more sporty are welcome, or do we need to just get a new bike?
Thanks!

Try a new quill stem with less rise. Handlebars roughly level with the saddle would be a good target
Edit: after a second glance you could just lower the existing stem as far as it goes before purchasing any new parts
+1 on a stem with less rise. The current handlebars are quite comfy cruiser so maybe something a bit wider with less rise would be worth looking into. You might need to change the way the basket is mounted, tbh I think getting it as close to the front wheel helps with handling when it’s loaded.
Depending on the places they’re riding, some more versatile tyres? The marathons are a good bombproof commuter tyre but aren’t that fun on mixed terrain.
How long is that post?
Less rise on the front end like the other comments say.
For my ATB I tend to have the grips level with the saddle.
A new bike never hurts 😀 one for chill rides and one for sporty rides
N+1
Don’t go with drop bars, go old school with a longer stem and flat bars. That’ll push her forward and lower and you get to keep the shifters and brakes. Aim for bars that land at about the same height as the saddle with room to go lower if she wants it (the beauty of quill stems that can slide up and down the steerer)
Might need a slimer saddle to go with it
The only correct answer here is painting flames on the frame.
