Morning. Morning. Good morning and welcome to day 12 of bike packing mainly the perimeter of Britain. Fundraising for Movember. Today I’m heading towards the island of Sky 180k I think some thousand of meters of elevation. It’s the first time in I think four days that the road has been dry. So, let’s hope that lasts. We have a new battle today. Welcome to day 12 of bike packing the perimeter of Britain fundraising for Movember. Now, for the first 90K of the day, I had Jake with me again and we got rolling out from Lock Mary heading to the aisle of sky. Now, I appreciate the aisle of sky is technically not part of Britain. This is an island off Britain, but I wanted to ride it as I’ve never been there before and it’s a place I’ve always wanted to visit and ride around. Uh, so that’s why I went there. You can get to the island of Sky via a bridge or via a ferry. The roads leading up to it were really stunning. We had a few punchy clims and then we stopped at a co-op. By this point, Jake had left and I saw this fluffy dog here. I wanted to go and stroke, but basically just stocked up on some food before heading into the sky. The way that I was getting there was via the bridge, which you can see here in the distance, which you can cycle over on a cycle lane, which runs on the left hand side of the bridge. You go over the bridge, it’s actually quite a climb, and then you’re on the island. And for some reason, the moment you get onto the aisle of sky, the drivers just become really, really dangerous. So, I was trying to find any detours to get off the main roads like this gravel track, just trying to find something safer. In the 50 odd kilometers that I rode on the Isis of Sky, there was probably 20 or 30 very, very dangerously close passes. And it meant that I just pulled the pin. I wasn’t feeling safe. I wasn’t feeling good about it. And to be honest, I was quite scared.
