Two Alpecin–Deceuninck riders escaped early and nearly stole the show in Tour de France 2025 Stage 9, holding off the sprinters for 174km.
We break down how the peloton nearly miscalculated, the last-second catch and how Tim Merlier ultimately won the sprint ahead of Jonathan Milan in Châteauroux. This one came down to meters. #TDF
Turn to France 2025 stage 974 kilometers and it was Matthew Vanderpool who nearly dominated all of those kilometers up until about 750 m to go. We didn’t know if it was going to be a bunch sprint or a Matthew Vanderpool celebration classic day. Well, in the end it was a bunch sprint with Timier getting his second stage win over Jonathan and Milan in the green jersey. What a great day of racing brought to you by none other than sponsored by the big man from Holland, Matthew Vanderpool. The rainbow stripes around his arms giving us all something to cheer out there on the roads as we race 174 km from start to finish on the hottest day of the Tur of France. Finishing here in Chataroo stage nine, whilst Tim Mir on top, Matthew Vanderpool giving us all a show and yes, success putting Yonas Reichart on the podium.

He worked twice as hard as everyone else only to get caught in the last 100 meters.
