As usual, first we need to
tetris our way out of the city. Dutch urban infrastructure often blends seamlessly with greenery, incorporating plants into streets, rooftops, and public spaces. Even in the city, we are still surrounded by a lot of greenery. We are now crossing Rotterdam’s iconic Erasmus Bridge. Constructed from 1986 to 1996,
Erasmus bridge is famous for its asymmetrical design, earning the bridge its nickname “The Swan”. This bridge crosses the Nieuwe Maas river, connecting the north and south parts of Rotterdam. We are having a lunch break in the middle of nowhere. Just joking, don’t trust our words!! The journey from Ridderkerk to Dordrecht continued after a short lunch break. This is what a typical Dutch countryside looks like – open, flat, and built around centuries of farming tradition. No bonking will happen under my supervision. In cycling, “bonking” is a sudden and severe drop in energy levels,
or “hitting the wall,” where the cyclist’s body runs out of fuel and can’t even pedal anymore. This is a World War II bunker. This concludes our failed adventure to an alpaca farm.
